Poetizer: A poetry writing app

I have never in my life reviewed an app but this one has me genuinely awed. I’ve been a social media poet for nearly a decade now, & my career has progressed outside of social media so I can now claim to be internationally published & award-winning, but one thing that’s frustrated me so much is the difficulties of formatting & sharing my poems on the internet. But this? This formatting is easy, & simple, & beautiful! The community? So much lovelier than the haters on TikTok. The engagement? Literally better than every other popular social media site where you’re a victim to the algorithm. & it’s so easy to share to other platforms! You can also screenshot & the formatting’s just… already flawless? When I tell you I was in TURMOIL over the nightmare of formatting, & feel like I’ve discovered the holy grail of instapoets. I will be singing the praises of this app to my all my poetry community peers. I think it has the potential to platform a genuinely tight-knit & self-empowered community! I’m in NZ tho so I’m very eager to see the book publication feature (INSANE???) made international. Like man this is gonna read like a paid ad but nah I’m literally just losing my mind over accidentally stumbling across the app I’ve been looking for my entire career? Thank you, creators. Genuinely. Thank you.

The Poetizer community itself is great, and I think the app is a wonderful idea, however I constantly experience glitches with the formatting of my poems when I post them. Others experience this issue too, and I have tried uninstalling the app and reinstalling, going back into my poems and trying to edit them at a later date, switching to better internet connections, however this problem still occurs. This is extremely frustrating as the structure of a poem matters so much to how it is read, and presentation is important too when posting your works. I really hope this issue gets resolved as it has made me want to stop sharing my works on this app because of the constant glitches and lack of continuity.

I’ve been off this app for a while, but I used it from 2021-2022. I came back because I wanted to get back into it, as well as copy my old poems into a notebook so I’d have a hard copy. They’d also be useful for therapy, something I’ve been making progress in. I struggle with PTSD, so poetry is a big thing for me. I wrote my poems right in the app because I wrote them during very emotional moments. My posted poems were accessible, but for some reason I couldn’t look at my old drafts without at least doing a free trial, coincidentally with the annual subscription checked rather than the monthly (cheaper than 12 months of a monthly subscription, but more money for them in one transaction if you forget to cancel it). My issue is that I should be able to enter my drafts without having to agree to a free trial. I wrote the poems, I shouldn’t have to pay or ‘free trial’ my way into my own writing. Now that I have retrieved my own work I ended the trial and will be deleting this app. I might look overdramatic to people reading this (assuming it wasn’t deleted) because I was able to see my drafts for free in the end, but there’s a principal here. The subscription bar popping up when trying to create a *new* poem, or trying to post something, I can understand. Interacting with OTHER peoples poems, that’s fair. But my own writing isn’t something they should have ever withheld from me in order to manipulate me into a subscription of any sort, regardless of whether I had to pay for it in the moment or not. The only reason I accepted that trial is because those drafted poems meant a lot to me, and I would’ve been upset if I had not been able to get them back. I would not have considered that trial regardless, but other reviews have already touched on those reasons. Anyways, I can’t say much about the other parts of the app, as I refuse to explore an inch of it, but l personally think making people pay you to write is ridiculous. Not everybody posted their poems. To the people in charge of all this stuff: you’re being greedy, and it’s ruining it.

I’ve only been on this platform for a couple of months and I went ahead and paid the subscription fee. I like that it’s just one fee and not something monthly. I love the aspect of it; I enjoy reading poetry from others around the world and all of us getting to interact with each other and share our words. However, the quality seems to be very low. It constantly crashes, and when you’re editing a poem, it changes the font and spacing randomly, even though you don’t physically do it at the time. It’s so annoying. I find it frustrating that every time I post a poem, I have to go back and check the font and spacing because it changes once it's posted. I've been checking the App Store for updates, but there hasn't been one since I downloaded the app. It needs bug fixes to run more smoothly. Also, the feed doesn't refresh correctly. I see the same poems at the top of the page for three days, and then I don't see anything new. I really like this app and want it to be better all around. I enjoy the simplicity of the platform. There are no ads, and it's clean-looking without any clutter. I like that I can self-publish my own poetry book, which is something I'm considering doing. However, I'm not a fan of the process involved. I wish I could edit and complete everything within the app itself. Currently, when I try to edit, I'm taken to a webpage that glitches and is difficult to navigate. It would be much more convenient if everything could be done within the app without any glitches. I've only found one poetry app that I like so far. I'm keeping an eye out for another one that might be better, but I'm hopeful that the developers of this app will work on improving it for the users. Fingers crossed.

I have been using this platform as a stress relief and personal support for myself for so long… and now I can’t even use it. A lot of us can’t afford these things, I am so sad.

I have nothing else to say but goodbye. I hope the burn of pain is enough to fuel the coals in your heart.

I used to to use this app whenever it was free, and absolutely loved it—though I only wrote a few poems. I took a break for a while and when I came back, you had to pay to write poems? I think making people pay to write poems when that’s what the app is for is a crappy thing to do. I want to write poems and have fun, not worry about how much I’m spending to do said things. Overall, it’s stupid and a waste to download this app when they charge you to do the only thing you can on the app: write poems. At the very least, I wish the app was adjusted so people who don’t have the money—or just don’t want to pay money—to buy a subscription have an option to watch an ad.

They’re model is all based on paid subscription. You can read but can’t write. It would be nice if they made a free tier even if it was 1 a day or 1 a month at the very least.

I went to try the free trial before i purchased the whole app. and i was charged $15. DO NOT USE FREE TRIAL. actually DO NOT USE THIS APP.
