This gives me easy control over the fan system, the fan does have a couple shortcomings but this app does what it’s supposed to do. Downside to the app is the need to register an account to use it.
The product itself is awesome, especially for the price. This is just for the app. Couldn’t connect to Wifi no matter what I tried. It’s using the same network as all of the other 2.4ghz smart devices in the house and I confirmed the password was correct multiple times. I’d consider myself to be pretty good trouble shooting this kind of thing — and a variety of other 2.4ghz wifi devices are using the exact same network, so I have to assume it’s on the app side of things.
- Please let us use this app without registering an account - the app communicates with an external iPower server using an insecure HTTP connection - lack of homekit support is frustrating - perhaps you could provide some documentation for your power-users. that will allow us to develop some simple integrations to make your products really useful. for example, document your API so that we can create plugins for Homebridge or Home Assistant, enabling HomeKit use without having to change hardware. please, iPower, let the community work for you... I am using this app with an iPower fan controller. It picks up the humidity and temperature data from the controller's sensor, accurately displays the current speed of the fan, and allows quick changes of the fan speed. It works fine, but you are limited to the app. The app requires registration. It then connects to my fan controller via wifi, where it asks for your wifi password and then saves that to the controller. To control or get the status of the device, data has to leave your network. This isn't ideal, especially given these sorts of devices don't get security updates all that often.
It’s cool being able to see the temps and humidity in your grow room remotely. The biggest problem I have with the app is that it is CONSTANTLY sending alerts to my phone whenever the temps are perfect and we’ll within the range I have set for alerts. Extremely annoying and cannot be trusted. Also it doesn’t gradually increase or decrease the fan speed in regards to heat or humidity. It either turns on to the setting you have it set to, or it’s off. There isn’t really anything smart about the product or the app.
Bought the ipower 6” fan with the smart controller. It’s model DF150-AS. App crashes and the program stops running whenever it feels like. Would not trust my grow with this fan.
Wow. I connect to my fan controller in few seconds and I can remote control from anywhere. Nice job.
