Practice Portuguese

Wish there was a way to adjust the speed of learning. I don’t need to identify what a pen is 300 times.

I tried a few other avenues to learning European Portuguese before stumbling on this app. I’ve been using it daily for a few months now and it still surprises me how comprehensive it is. If you get tired of one style of learning, you can easily choose another. There are blogs, podcasts, short stories, reviews and more. It’s simply excellent. I don’t know how it could be any better. It’s worth every penny.

I was trying to learn Portuguese on my own, with the little recourses online, YouTubers, chat GPT, etc. when I came across this app. When I saw what amazing lessons they had for listening exercises, I immediately bought the subscription. Then I was very pleasantly surprised to find that they had lessons too that brought you through spelling, audio, and more. This app has fast tracked my learning, and the lessons are super fun and interactive. Makes me want to learn more, and reach a higher level. Actually so thankful to ‘Practice Portuguese’, and owe them. $15 a month for premium is a STEAL and worth every penny. (You don’t even need premium to use the app, just for the lessons, you could make your own lessons if you wanted with the info they give you for FREE)

I want a free trial so I know how it works I’d love to update my review once that feature is added.

This is a fun app and a great way to learn European Portuguese, especially if you need to learn the accent. I studies several years on Duolingo (Brazilian Portuguese) but PP helped me get familiar with the differences between BP and EP. I wish there were a way to take tests and level up, so you could skip things you know. Also, the app doesn’t always work the way it should. I almost always do lessons on my phone. Maybe the website is less glitchy. I love watching the videos and shorties. The transcription and translation features are genius. I also like that you can slow the rate of speech down - .7 é perfeito para mim. Now if I can just get people to talk that devagar when I visit Portugal in October…🙃

Great resource!

Just don’t like how the app can take long to load sometimes and occasionally crash. But the actual lessons are great, I feel like I’m learning at a pretty fast rate.

I spent 6 months trying to learn as much European Portuguese as I could in preparation for a trip to Portugal. I struggled finding resources that were not Brazilian Portuguese, and then I found this app. I used several different apps- this one blew all others out of the water! Well worth the subscription. The phrases are useful and presented by native speakers. The grammar lessons are extremely helpful. I loved being able to bookmark phrases and add them to my smart review. My favorite part was the “shorties”, where you listen to dialogues and skits in European Portuguese at your level. When I went to Portugal, my husband was blown away at how well I was able to communicate after only 6 months of study. I was able to talk to our taxi driver who didn’t speak English, help my husband read menus that didn’t have English, order food for us, and even got us out of a tough spot when we couldn’t figure out which train to get on! You can jump around units and study different topics you think may be useful. I loved this app and recommend it to anyone trying to learn Portuguese.

I didn’t know what to expect when I got the app and subscribed. So many language apps in the market are amateurish. But I am so impressed by the UI, the way the levels work and the pure comprehensiveness. The work that went into putting this together must be staggering. The team should be very proud. As always, a few minor things like voices getting cut off, but I report anything and the team actually writes back within a day to tell me it’s fixed. If you want a good method to learn European Portuguese, Practice Portuguese is the way to go.
