Industry Leading Security Features
Messages are stored on Proton Mail servers using end-to-end encryption at all times and are transmitted securely between Proton servers and user devices. This largely eliminates the risk of message interception.
Zero Access to Your Email Content
Proton Mail's zero access architecture means that your data is encrypted in a way that makes it inaccessible to us. Data is encrypted on the client side using an encryption key that Proton does not have access to. This means we don't have the technical ability to decrypt your messages.
Open-Source Cryptography
Proton Mail's open-source software has been thoroughly vetted by security experts from around the world to ensure the highest levels of protection. Proton Mail only uses secure implementations of AES, RSA, along with OpenPGP, while all of the cryptographic libraries used are open source. By using open-source libraries, Proton Mail can guarantee that the encryption algorithms used do not have clandestinely built-in back doors.
Proton Mail in the press:
“Proton Mail is a Gmail-like email system which uses end-to-end encryption, making it impossible for outside parties to monitor.” Forbes
“A new email service being developed by a group who met at MIT and CERN promises to bring secure, encrypted email to the masses and keep sensitive information away from prying eyes.” Huffington Post

Good Stuff

I learn a lot on this app.

Automation of simple tasks via an email server is one way to create waste capitalization gains. It also leads to security issues that can’t be enumerated given the nature of human led conflicts. Proton has a suite of options for many aspects of cyber security but I find that a secure system in tandem with transparency and no fault nullifications of minor disputes leads to a better overall system of self governance. Proton has always been there for me to learn from and do better with their open source approach. I want to thank Proton for leading my cyber studies in a positive and beneficial way given the nature of cyber. Happy holidays from Buddha. Now get back to work!

Won't forward any mail

Sam the Butchers on

Got the notifications that Gmail and Yahoo mail synced and that did. It just won't forward any new mail. Did the rest when opening the app from the settings menu. Wanted to like the app and pay for it but I'll look elsewhere for now.

Amazing app!

App crash

halfazap on

Vereinigte Staaten

Experiencing an app crash when I have unread mail filter on and go to check spam folder. Could not find a way to report this in app or through support link in store. Otherwise app works fine.

Encrypted but zendesk, ugh…

KristinasAppleID on

Without a doubt, this is the best and safest encrypted open source or paid set of apps available. But customer service via zendesk? Forget it, because that is what zendesk does to the customers it is supposed to be servicing for its clients. This is universal across all platforms that use zendesk. I will probably review zendesk too, and give them a less than *.

Best out there

You need this app. You need a subscription. It’s worth every penny.

AVP - Comm’on

SilverGriffin on

There’s a good Proton Mail iPadOS app. Why have they specifically checked the box to block the app from being installed on Apple Vision Pro? They don’t need to even develop an app for the AVP, they just need to unblock the app they already have and AVP owners would be thrilled. Using Proton Mail in the browser is less than optimal.

Great but has issues

ImEMP on

Vereinigte Staaten

I have been using this app for almost a year now and it works great. The only massive issue I have ran into is when I move my inboxes around it refuses to sync anymore. I have to clear my local cache every time I want to see new emails. I have tried numerous fixes but to no avail. IOS is definitely the buggiest out of all the platforms I use this app on.

Attachment issues

Dusty tailgater on

Vereinigte Staaten

No way to specify whether to attach pictures our add them inline, it automatically adds them inline. You’re supposed to be able to tap on them and get option to add as attachment, but most of the time it doesn’t work😟
