rocket but with a language barrier
bumped into QQ HD Browser (for the iPad) by pure accident, and gave it a try. I can assure you this: it's the absolute fastest browser ever made. period. and I've tried them all (Atomic, Mango, Maven, Safari, Puffin, Photon, Mercury, you name it). it's in a category all by itself, so to speak, when it comes to speed. seems as if you're browsing the net in Japan, hardwired with an ethernet cable (I was just at home, using WiFi). QQ is a chinese app (Tencent); it's UI contains a light approach to those rich graphic modern asian aesthetics, which makes it really neat and cool. it's got download managing capabilities, also. but the main pro is: it FLIES! so far so good, for the iPad HD version (it automatically adapts itself for english, too. nice!). so, next logical step, tried to look for an iPhone version. found it, but it's not at the same level. the main con: UI is all written in chinese. besides the fact that unfortunately the speed is definetely not at the same level (of the iPad version), it's almost impossible to deal with the settings menu. therefore, compromising the experience. perhaps it's not the company's goal, but with such data compression technology at hand, and with an english version becoming available, QQ might become in no time a very serious Safari oponent. read somewhere that because of chinese political concerns, it's browsers may suffer from some encoded blocking restrictions. makes sense, but haven't tested it yet.
