Quiver: Rare Conversations

Great tool for (self)reflection and seeing different opinions from all over the world. Just one question: Is it possible to „collapse“ the calendar? When I scroll there the calendar takes up 70% of the screen, which makes it hard to read/see other people’s posts. Thank you :)

I love the concept. Like BeReal this one is a novel concept that tries to avoid the downsides of many social apps. It focuses on quality of relationships not „lots of friends“. It is inspiring. It does not entice to spend too much time with psychologically addictive methods. The downside: The business model seems set to share and sell user data, personal profiles of high value. At least that is what I figured from their „privacy“policy, which sounds all nice but really gives the company the right to collect and use almost any sort of data, those shared and those gathered behind the scenes. Data collection is opt-out, i. e. it is on by default, and not all collection can be opted out. Maybe this is how the business works these days. But I wish it were not so. I wish all communication were E2E-encrypted including one’s social graph / network, like in modern privacy aware messengers, e. g. Signal. Monetization could happen a) via ads only based on voluntarily given preferences and b) an add-free subscription version.

I enjoy an interesting question every day to reflect and see what other users are thinking as well.

Ich mag die App sehr. Kommuniziert wird auf Englisch, das muss man mögen (und können 😉), und derzeit befindet sie sich noch im Aufbau, weshalb die Funktionen und auch die Größe der Community noch sehr übersichtlich sind. Aber gerade das macht den Reiz aus. Die Atmosphäre ist fast schon familiär, und dadurch, dass alles übersichtlich aufgebaut ist, wird man nicht so von Informationen und Funktionen erschlagen wie auf anderen Social Media Plattformen. Am besten finde ich, dass sich jeder Tag auf eine einzige Frage konzentriert, die von jedem normalerweise nur in 1-2 Sätzen beantwortet wird. Dadurch verliert man sich nicht so schnell. Auch zum Diskutieren bleibt wenig Raum. Hier geht es nicht um Diskussion, sondern um Reflexion. Das ist mal was anderes. Traut Euch! 😉

The app is a great exercise not only to think about life but also to break the ice and get to know more about other people in your circle. It would be great to be able to have private groups to make it more personalized with those I want to break the ice with.

It’s so fun to reflect on your self and also get to know your friends better! What I love on top of that is the great atmosphere because everyone needs to answer so we are all in the same boat. Not like other apps where mean people stay hidden but read everything…

Only thing I noticed, is you can’t edit your entries, e.g. to correct stupid typos. :)

I think this app might be the healthiest and most wholesome corner of the internet. Its daily questions cause me to reflect just a bit, but are never a burden to answer. I love being able to learn from others and especially learn a little bit more about my real-life friends and family who have joined the app, too. The nature of the app means it takes up an appropriately small amount of your life, and there’s no influencer culture at play, no ads, no clickbait. Mostly just a bunch of thoughtful and kind people hanging out. One of my favorite side-effects of using this is the real-life discussions it facilitates. At dinner every night one of my children now asks what the day’s Quiver prompt was and we all take turns going around the table sharing our answers.

Although I would like to rate it with five stars, if there is no way for me to share my profile on other platforms, I will keep it at four stars. Apart from that, I really enjoy using this application!

After using this app daily for over a month, I’ve found its approach to user interaction refreshing. What’s great is the ability to both share your thoughts and engage with others’ perspectives. Whether through likes or comments, it creates genuine connections and a strong sense of community. Highly recommended for those seeking meaningful digital engagement.
