Ineffective at helping koala populations
This app is difficult to navigate and it’s time consuming to enter details every time you see a koala. Uploading photos doesn’t seem to work so you have to take photos with the app open. iNaturalist is much quicker and easier to use. We persevered with the app for a long time thinking it would help show where koalas are active to help protect them when it comes to development. However, recently a block of koala inhabited forest near the QEII hospital in Brisbane was cleared by the Queensland Government. They claimed they had done a survey and found no evidence of koalas, despite there being multiple sightings recorded on QWildlife. This app is simply a marketing tool for the Queensland Government. Unless big changes are made, I works recommend recording koala sightings on iNaturalist instead.
