One of the best radio station of the world! Especially relaxation station.
I like relaxation, world, dreamscape and solo piano stations.
I stumbled on the Radio Tunes app by trial and error. A terrestrial radio station I found on Live 365 last year was playing holiday smooth jazz. I enjoyed it. But the station never made the switch this year. So, I did a Google search. I found a few holiday smooth jazz playlists on YouTube. But the music was insipid. Plus, the creators thought it would be cool to run the sound of a crackling fire underneath the music. It was worse than the scratching on my old vinyl. I did a deeper dive. And there it was. Jazz Radio, including a channel that played holiday smooth jazz. I tried it out for a couple of days. The playlist was deep. Not the same old tunes my Apple Music gave me. I hate ads, so I signed up for the 30-day free trial. After it ended, I was happy to pay the $90 yearly fee. There are so many music styles that I look forward to sampling. This is going to be my go to music app from this day forward. No more Live 365 and its annoying ads. I’ve removed Pandora and Spotify from my desk top. I’ll keep my Apple Music subscription so I can hear my favorite albums when I’m in the mood. But most of my music will be coming from Jazz Radio and its associated music apps, which you also have access to as a paying subscriber. Listening to the Mellow Smooth Jazz station as I write this. It’s wonderful!
Starting January 2025, the “free” music option for this app (along with the same developers’ jazz, zen, and classical music themed apps) is being replaced by a paid subscribers only option. Considering that the “free” option currently is loaded with frequent ad interruptions, this change makes no sense. Competitors like Pandora and Spotify offer both a free with-ads option and a paid no-ads option and yet they are able to be financially successful. This app apparently doesn’t believe this business model will work for them. I have used this app for 5+ years and have patiently tolerated the ever increasing frequency of ads. But with this change, I will be deleting the app permanently. I would expect a size able number of app users will be doing the same.
I have been a subscriber to this service since it was sky.FM. It’s been a very long time and I can’t recall when I first joined, but it’s been a while. The type of music that I subscribed for is what is known as new age. Fairly or unfairly it does have a specific connotation in the minds of some. However, it’s basically instrumental music that has many different sub genres. My concern and the reason I’m writing this review is because RadioTunes has numerous apps that contain overlapping but different new age style channels. For instance, the main RadioTunes app has a New Age channel, a relaxation channel, a sleep channel, etc. However, they also have an app called Zen Radio which has a lot of new age style channels, including a channel called New Age. But the New Age channel of the RadioTunes app and the New Age channel of the Zen Radio app appear to be programmed differently as far as the style of music is concerned. Anyway, the point of my review is to wonder why all the new age channels, including both of the main New Age channels, are not combined into either the main app or the Zen Radio app. I prefer the New Age and Relaxation channels in the main app but these are not available in the Zen Radio app at all. Similarly the guitar channels in the Zen Radio app or not seen in the main RadioTunes app. It’s great that RadioTunes has all these new age type channels and as long as they do, I will continue my subscription. But it really is a PIA having to change apps to get to a a certain channel. So it would be really nice if the Zen Radio app included all that new age channels that are available in the main RadioTunes app. Again, I love the service and thanks for providing all these different new agechannels. I am a premium subscriber, and the sound quality is excellent. I just wish I didn’t have to change apps when I wanted to listen to a different New Age channel that’s not contained in the main app. This review was dictated on my iPhone, so please forgive any spelling or context errors.
This app still doing and incredible job i downloaded again and the music freak me out good job
Please add K-pop on here. I see it has Jpop kpop please.
Not enough new music. I would like a radio station with fresh music. Top Hits station, broadcasts mostly early 10s. I would recommend creating a station with music from 2022-2024
I really love this service because even if I travel outside of the country I can still use it and play my favorite music
Eleven years of Premium Membership and still the most used app on my iPhone and iPad. My membership also includes several other streaming music apps. Thanks for the excellent audio quality and great curated streams. The new UI artwork is great
