If you’re looking for an app to teach your child how to read this is not the app, but if you’re looking to help to build fluency and confidence, this is it! My son has improved immensely in his confidence. My kids love the quests and earning coins.  They just need more outfits. Would recommend for grades 1st and up.

The app is an awesome tool, but I was disappointed when I saw that my child was required to read a book about a boy with 2 dads in order to finish the first “quest”. I understand if a company holds different beliefs about this and wants to put that material on their app, but the fact that my child couldn’t complete the quest unless she read that book was upsetting to me. I immediately unsubscribed

Refused refund!! After the initial free subscription I did not want to renew and did not pay the renewal fee. I missed the cancellation date and the fee came out accidentally when I unlocked my card to pay a bill so I immediately went in canceled and asked for a refund. The app had not been used, but maybe to open and look at once. My son never even used it. The request was denied. I immediately put in an appeal. This is ridiculous for one day if you’re that hard up for 1699 just say that…I am that hard up and I want my money back. Give me my money back.

Watching my first grader struggle with reading was heartbreaking. She was behind her peers and lacked confidence. Then we found this app and everything changed!

The fun, game-like design hooked her instantly, and the personalized lessons worked wonders. She’s gone from dreading reading to proudly showing off her progress. Her confidence has skyrocketed, and she’s now excited to pick up books on her own.

While the app can occasionally be glitchy, customer support has been super helpful and quick to resolve any issues. If you have a struggling reader, don’t wait—Ello is worth every penny. It’s truly been a lifesaver for us!

I have tried several apps that have done nothing to improve my child’s reading but this app is amazing. My kids literally beg to read on this app. It’s really interactive and fun. It sounds out words that my be difficult and they’re able to read along with the characters. I’ve never seen an app that better than this one. It’s awesome!!

### ***** "Making such a difference"
My twins (both 6) have both been delving into reading the last couple of years. My son in particular has required some extra help with fluency and gets frustrated quickly when practicing at home and in school. Since using Ello, he is excited for the time we set aside using it weekly and is learning and showing so much progress. At times, the app struggles to pick up on words he says even when correct but it is infrequent and I think mostly due to other distractions / background noise. Otherwise, it has been such a help to us and him, and he is motivated to earn points and choose new books. My daughter is also progressing even quicker with use of it and I love the separate profiles so they can both be challenged at the level they are at. Thank you for putting together such a thoughtful, fun, reading app that is truly making a difference in young children’s reading skills!

This app uses the mic to listen to your child read. Once the child finishes a sentence it moves on to the next page. That’s all good except it literally skips to the next page at ANY sound, even if the child didn’t say the word. I would try to help my child and say things like “ok look at the first word, what sounds do these letters make” for example, and it would skip to the next page as if the sentence was spoken! So annoying and it made me immediately stop using it. I couldn’t say anything or it would skip it for my child. And if my child said the wrong thing it would still skip. PASS

My kid has not been interested in reading at all and it has been hard to work with her. Now all she wants to do is read with the Ello app. She loves it and it’s a great supplement to her reading program. She’s very independent and loves that she doesn’t have to rely on us to sit with her every time she reads. Her reading tutor approves too! We’ve already seen an improvement in just a couple of weeks.

I chose to start Ello for my daughter, 7y, when I noticed that reading was difficult for her. She was in private school as I hoped she would get more attention and support. Unfortunately it seems she is dyslexic and the school did not have the resources to recognize or cater to her needs. She fell WAY behind, leaving first grade testing below average. We started Ello one year ago but really started to focus and get serious about her using it daily in the last six month. That combined with homeschooling she is now caught up and surpassing all standards and expectations. 

Ello’s customer support is thorough, responsive, and timely with clear and accurate communication. 

Our time with Ello was not always easy as we experienced glitches for a timeframe. However they gave great advice on how to continue her progress while they worked to resolve the issues. 

Ello is an A+ in my book. I am grateful to have found their program.

Really love Ello with our now 6-year old. We both look forward to doing it together every week for a few hours.

The core experience is great, but it gets 5 stars for a lot of little things. My favorite example is book selection. When I work with my daughter solo it’s hard to pick the right next book at our local library that balances reinforcing sounds she knows and learning new ones. Ello absolutely nails that!

I downloaded this app to help my daughter read, but we are unable to even access it. We tried to start the free trial but get told that we need to update the app, even though we there is no update to download.  Back to the Reading.com app we go!

### ***-- "It’s good but glitches a lot."
My kids loves it but the thing is I have three kids. I created a profile for all but only one pops up and when I go to mange profile all three are there but it only lets me use one. They love it. It also want let me log in on their tablets. It keeps saying error try again later when I try to log in for them on their devices so they constantly have to use my phone for it. It really helps and they get really engaged when reading with Ello even on hard words. But it’s a real inconvenience with me. If I can’t get it working right I’ll probably look for something else to help them with reading. I really like the concept of this app though. It catches when they are struggling with a word and it helps immediately. That’s why I can’t give it one star.
