Remote Rowing Coach is an iOS app designed to run on iPhone and iPad devices. Once the app is connected to the PM5 monitor on the erg it records workout metrics and displays them in real-time. It will also upload most workouts to the Concept2 Logbook provided the user authenticates with the Logbook from within the app.
Remote Rowing Coach also provides the functionality (with the purchase of an in-app subscription) to allow another 3rd party to view PM5 metrics in real-time remotely. Please note that in order to access this functionality, the third party will also need another instance of Remote Rowing Coach running with the subscription service purchased for that device. Another way to view real-time metrics is to use the website associated with this app and which can be located at:
https://remote-coach-481a5.firebaseapp.com/remoterowingcoach/login.html
In order to use this app, a user is required to have a Concept2 rower with a PM5 monitor capable of Bluetooth. This app will NOT work with a PM3 or PM4 monitor. Additionally, the force curve functionality is ONLY available on PM5 monitors that were manufactured in late 2016 or later.

Standout rowing app

As a long time Concept2 row erg user, I never felt compelled to use an app other than Concept2’s ErgData. I’ve been using the PM since v1 and can quickly and easily program it. What I care about is the data feedback. Knowing the PM and ErgData inside out, I began to wish for stored data of several of the measurements, such as stroke length. Now with Remote Rowing Coach, that’s possible! Will update the review after I test the stored data that I’m able to retrieve via the logbook download of the CSV file.

The app has easy to use features that will allow you to up your rowing game. From the force curve feature to the fantastic ability to row a power stroke test in either 7 or 10 strokes w/o needing someone else to watch and capture data while you row the 10 strokes. Once finished, you can graph each of the power stroke test and see how consistent you were. Certainly something coaches and athletes alike would want to utilize if they are serious about improving.

Fantastic Rowing App

I was very fortunate to find Neil Bergenroth andhis awesome app. Through 4 months of rowing I was able to get PR’s in both my 5K and 2K. The app is very easy to use, links with C2 logbook and provides more insight into each stroke. The app also allows for a live virtual coaching session. The coach can see you #’s and more importantly the force curve you are generating for each stroke. This provided real-time feedback on technique and stroke improvements. If you are serious about rowing either as a coach or rower, or both, you need this app in your arsenal.
