Remoter Pro (VNC, SSH & RDP)

While SSH connections to all kind of Unix machines work flawlessly and reliable, I can not longer connect to my MacOS Ventura desktop PC. This was working before but stopped all of a sudden around last October. Since then no update did restore this capability. Switching now to the competition…

Crashes when you try and connect to a target. No feed back to what is the issue, thus assume it is the application. Been 7 months since last update. Needs to fix SSH issues, not viable application and a waste of money so far.

The link to download desktop client doesn’t work. No help on their website. All the materials on the website are from year 2011. Do not do what I did - do not buy this software, rather spend your money on something that actually works.

I have downloaded and used many apps for remotely accessing Mac OSX, Windows 10 Pro and Linux Distros. This app was able to access a Linux distro I was running where other remote software failed. I use it in conjunction with OpenVPN on iPad and iPhone. It takes a little while to figure out that after you enter text and commands you have to press the Enter key for them to be sent. After a bit of practice you will be very productive. To the developer(s). Please keep this backwards compatible with iOS 12 if possible. Also it would be great if I could share my connection profiles to other devices via iCloud.

Very excited to find this after searching for a decent ssh client with built in port forwarding. Bought the pro version and after figuring out the interface, managed to setup a number of remote ssh sessions with port forward. The big issue is that as soon as you switch away from this app, it closes your connection and so the port forwards no longer work. Searched through the UI but can find no options to keep the connection open. Tried looking for support, but nothing on their website, no method to contact them, and recommended forums haven’t been used since 2012. Never tried the vnc or rdp options. If the disconnect can be fixed, would certainly give it 5 stars.

I have been using this software for a couple of years and since iOS 12.3.1 it crashes a startup. I have tried starting with and without network. I have uninstalled and reinstalled with no more success. It seems that there no follow-up by the supplier. Shame because it was the last low price solution for my iPad.

Keeps crashing on iOS 12 and up. They haven’t updated it since iOS 11

I've been using Remoter Pro to connect to Mac and Linux boxes with vnc over ssh or ssh directly. The vnc takes some time to load the initial screen but seems fairly responsive after that. I haven't quite mastered the mouse and keyboard controls yet but one thing I noticed was you can do a 2-finger zoom and get a close-up of the UI elements you're trying to control. And this zooming seems "free" in that it doesn't lag trying to reload the screen when you do it. I've had agonizing vnc sessions with other apps in the past so these sort of touches are appreciated! The app supports ssh key login, though it seems as though the internal key format is a little non-standard (possibly a Windows format?). So I gave up trying to install my own key into the app and had it create a new key pair instead. That worked fine. Over all, I'm happy with Remoter Pro. Between this, Textastic, and Pythonista, I can get all sorts of coding done on my lowly iPad Air. It's pretty awesome! (Now if only I could find an X11 client for iOS...)
