For hundreds of years, astrologers noticed that for periods of time, the planets would appear as if they were moving backwards in the sky. Just like cars on the highway, a planetary retrograde it is just an illusion of earth's position relative to the other planet's position in our solar system. But few can deny that 'things tend to go a little wonky' when certain planets are in their retrograde phases.
