Royal Road - Read Stories

Why am I paying a yearly subscription and I’m still getting advertisements? I subscribed last year to avoid that and now they’re back? If you’re going to force annoying advertisements on me, please give me my money back for the 2025 subscription you lot took from my account.

I love the app. Download for later. Easy to read. Made for my phone. Cannot recommend highly enough.

First and foremost I’ll say, the community is (mostly) great, the ads aren’t intrusive & there is value here. The only downside I’ve found is that if you don’t turn on your low power mode it will chew through 60% of your charge in an hour. Im not sure why, and haven’t seen anyone else with these issues but it’s worth stating. Im on an iPhone 13 Pro

A very good app for those who wish to read some stories on the go and it is very simple to use and has barely any ads, which is pretty epic

I’m only leaving 3 starts instead of 1 with the hope that it will be fixed. I understand you need ads to operate and cover expense and that’s fair but when there is an ad displayed with a circle at size of my nail flashing red and white constantly and it’s on the reading page, then I’m not going to use your app at all. It’s a reading app, displaying animated ads or with flashing lights on the reading page is extremely irritating and very distracting. Either remove ads from reading page and keep them everywhere else on the app or don’t display animated ads on it.

It’s ok but it needs an adjustable font setting.

It’s really easy to find everything, and very smooth. Light and dark mode both look nice. I appreciate being able to access notifications about messages even if the service to use an inbuilt forum isn’t available yet.

Why does one write and why does one read? I find many publishers try to hit the largest target audience. Over the years, this has led to a fairly genetic storyline. Different cultures have different ideas, so there is a decent spread if taking into account the translated novels. Still, the authors who write the stories they themselves want to write are the true gold. This site allows for truly compelling and original content.

As someone who had programmed my own app for Royalroad I was quite excited when I heard that an official app would be coming out. Especially when this would be by Royalroad team themselves and would thus work far more efficiently than my own. It is a shame then that the main reason that I would want an app for this website, to be able to read offline, is locked behind a paywall. I would be fine with a one time payment, but having to pay monthly for a feature that other apps can do without paying, no thanks. I hope you guys find success with this app, but this isn’t for me.

There is an ad that routinely pops up on tis app thats is a white flashing bar that continues for minutes at a time. It is insane to me that a reading app would have something so obnoxious.
