Russian Readers: Learn Russian

As a language learner, I found the approach to be very helpful in just the right way to gaining confidence in learning Russian. The focus area content is very good with lots of example sentences read slowly and clearly. I use this along with other resources.

I’ve been using this app for a year now to practice Russian and I couldn’t be more pleased. It’s incredibly intuitive, straightforward, and easy to navigate. The app allows me to practice reading, comprehension, and grammar all in one place. I especially love the word-by-word translation above the text; it makes it so much easier to follow along and learn new vocabulary naturally. The accompanying audio is excellent for practicing both listening comprehension and pronunciation. The illustrations are cute and the stories engaging. The grammar guide videos with Пётр are incredibly informative, almost like having a private class, and Luke’s quick customer service and help has made my experience even better; I’m very thankful. Большое спасибо for creating such a fantastic app!

AMAZING APP the app is so helpful in learning basic vocab

I have done all the language apps and even had a traditional language tutor. Though I made progress memorizing words, I wasn’t actually learning the language. As I read more about TPRS and language acquisition I saw a heavy emphasis on reading and learning from listening to stories. Searching for different options, I was lucky to find RR. RR has a large number of stories (beginner to advanced) read by native speakers and include direct, word for word translations. Using this regularly by first listening without the text, then listening with the text, then reading it myself and trying to work out the meaning from the words I already knew (the beginner texts build on vocabulary and grammar from previous stories) I have made far more progress than with other language learning apps. RR is also continually developing new content which is great to see. I would definitely recommend this for anyone trying to learn Russian.

I was looking for something to help me with pronunciation and this was perfect! The app is very intuitive, and the stories are paced perfectly to the point where I can follow along my pronunciation. Having the English translations for each word is helpful, since it gives me a sense of how Russian grammar structure works. The illustrations are also very charming, and I can’t wait to be able to understand some of the more advanced stories!

I would love to try this app out, but I don’t want to commit to buying it before I can try it out for myself and see if I like it. It’s a great idea for an app, and I’ve been looking for something this for a while now. Thank you!

I hope the developer could install a simple, useful feature. To press on a word, and hear it pronounced once, and stop. Currently, if you press on a word, the entire remaining page is narrated. Thank you for an otherwise great Russian language app.

This app has been helping me improve my Russian reading and listening. It’s very high quality audiobooks, and they all vary in difficulty which is nice.

A great way to learn and master the complicated grammatical forms that make up the Russian language. I particularly enjoy Пётр’s video lessons interspersed throughout the readings. He is a linguist’s linguist, coming at each concept from various angles, acknowledging seemingly silly literal meanings and similarities in other languages, like Spanish. Clearly he has put in much thought as to how a native English-speaking student might view a concept.
