Don’t understand why you mandate a prefix to register, then offer only Mr/Mrs/Ms Either drop the mandatory prefix, or have an exhaustive list which you continue to update How does RYA harvesting a prefix save someone’s life? Deleting the just downloaded app: I will never know how good or bad it is

CG66 was a database used by the UK coastguard, so that individual yacht details could be entered by the owner. This had the advantage of linking the details to either the MMSI or the associated callsign of the vessel. If there were any reason to contact HMCG, by giving the MMSI the CG could get all the detail needed from the database, especially in an emergency. This keeps r/t to a minimum, no mistakes are made on the data and the crew can focus on the emergency instead of being distracted by the VHF comms. CG66 was ended in March 2020 and the database function was replaced by the RYA SafeTrx system. The app itself is an excellent concept and continually being developed. The app will not function on later iPads, but works well on smartphones. Although a useful planning tool, this is the only major shortfall. I would strongly recommend logging your vessel's details with the SafeTrx database.

Very useful and thought out app However it needs a refinement to make it quicker to start a trip. If you do the same trip every time, save that as a default, 2 click start the trip. It is far too slow to start each trip.

Excellent for keeping people informed and alert if you have problems. Would be better if it updated when in background in iPhone. Even better if you could turn the screen upside down as I have to put my iPhone upside down in the mount to allow access to its charge socket to keep it alive for a long trip.

It’s great and I love the fact that there’s an CG officer monitoring my passage. Much much better than the old CG66. Only wish I could remember how to put multiple waypoints into my passage plan Grenville

When submitting saftrix info it came up with a message that it wasn’t working. So I messaged my contact directly to tell him we were leaving and messaged him again when we arrived. A day later when I opened my I pad I had a message from Safetrix to say I hadn’t ended my journey. I pressed end and it asked me if I wanted to notify my contact. I wanted to see what message he would get so I pressed yes. I got a message back to say it had failed. I wouldn’t like to trust my life to it. Dclay100

I’ve persevered with this app for the past few years. Good idea but the app isn’t very good. Doesn’t record position and ground track in the background unless the app is opened up on a regular basis. Also is a very battery hungry app. Score = 1/10
