If you wanna feel good but not solve the problem
This will not solve or answer the root cause of why people end up unhoused. It’s just a feel-good charity.

I’ve heard one of the founders explain the mission of this app and how they’re going about it, and this is unlike any other homeless outreach program I’ve seen before. Identifying people by their stories is a big part of the solution to the homeless crisis. Very exciting.
Can you make this come to Massachusetts faster please. I know you’re expanding to 100 cities, but the 3 major cities in Massachusetts would be nice too please.
i would love to use this app in nyc. it’s much needed and the homeless community is so underserved. please keep me posted on rollout plans!
Such a secure, simple, smart, way to support homeless people. It is a win>win>win>win. A win for the giver, for the receiver, for Seattle businesses, and for the city of Seattle. Ideally our government would be doing more… But we can’t wait for that to happen…The homelessness crisis is too severe. Skip your latte and give.
I walk past beacon holders in Seattle, receive a notification, and I’m able to give to them using Apple Pay. I love learning their story and knowing more about them. This is giving of the future!
Thank you for making this app. I’m sure it’s already doing great things there in Seattle. I think it has the potential to change lives for people in the Midwest, too. For example, here, in Oklahoma City, where state-run programs for people in need lack proper funding and the sign-up process is difficult and full of redundant paperwork. That’s not assistance-that’s needless bureaucracy. I think open-sourced(crowd-sourced?) assistance is an awesome idea. I wish it were available for everyone right now. There should always be an honest, shame-free way for a person in need to ask for help and be connected to another human being that’s there to help. Thanks for doing what you’re doing, keep up the good work, and please keep OKC in mind for your next location! We need people like you here! I’m glad to help with anything you might need to get this app to OKC. There are so many wonderful people in need here. Please, come walk with us. :) Amber
I worked alongside samaritan when they went by the name givesafe. i ended up leaving because i saw them hand out beacons like they were candy but to no follow up at all. they relied on outside groups for monthly follow ups and new batteries for the beacons. most people were never sure how to actually use their beacons, so were never able to redeem their money. samaritan looks to hand out beacons to get grants to pay themselves, but as soon as the grants come in, they forget about their clients and move to a new group. rinse and repeat.
I used to be able to give with this App, but now the Apple Pay functionality is not working. I keep getting a “Payment Not Completed” error, even after removing and re-adding my card. If this issue gets fixed, I will update my rating.
This app is so simple, easy to use and much needed. It’s a wonderful tool to help bridge the gap between people with different living situations, break down barriers, provide perspective and help move us to understanding and healing. I also feel good knowing that my donation can only be spent at a list of very reputable organizations and businesses; I feel that my donation is truly going to help the recipient in a positive way.
