Growth Migration to the Big Leagues
Shenandoah had a stark beginning in Dayton and soon realized in order to grow they needed to move. I was there in 1960 and that summer the trucks rolled up and packed it up. The beginnings were slim in Winchester too, a couple of buildings and a restaurant across the street. Lodging in homes throughout the city was a start. I lived on East Cork Street and soon met Fred living across town. I drove a hot rod Chevy and Fred had the Olds and sometimes we rode over to a beer joint in WV for a beer or two. Yes we broke a couple of rules but life is short. We are both now into the deep Autumn of our lives and as I look back I have no regrets. Madge might correct some of my grammar, however. Shenandoah gave me a career in IBM and a good start on life. Fun, yes we had some! Would I do it again? You bet.
