No disclosure of AI art usage
I enjoyed the puzzles, but it is very obvious that the game uses AI art for the majority of the scenes. It’s a downgrade from the previous game and extremely misleading to describe the art in the game as hand drawn.

For $1.99 this might be my best game purchase EVER!!! I usually don’t care to review stuff but the music and ambiance mixed with the really challenging puzzles made it super fun and 100% worth it. The lore in Chinese and the specific Chinese puzzles (like rearranging the pictures) are wonderful and reminded me of the puzzles I’ve seen on my trip to China as a kid
Great puzzles! Plus an interesting story. This is a great game, great atmosphere. I really am enjoying it. I had to opt for only one of the puzzles to take the easy solution. However I tripped over a bug in the game and got stuck in one of the first rooms. I wrote a note to the developers, they responded right away. They'd never heard of the bug I found but sent a fixed version as soon as Apple approved the fix. This is the fastest fix I've ever gotten on a program!
Not challenging enough
The game presents itself as free but ONLY allows you to play one part of a level and then requires payment.
I haven’t finished the game yet, but I have spent multiple hours playing it at this point. I think it’s the best puzzle game I’ve found for iOS. It’s atmospheric, stylish, and mysterious, but not creepy or dark, which I love. It feels like a movie from the forties. The writing is excellent, which is often neglected in these kinds of games. I like that you can make a single puzzle easier, instead of changing the difficulty of the whole game. Would definitely recommend!
The game’s puzzles and atmosphere are well-designed, but the story follows a tired and somewhat arrogant trope: a Western scholar unravels an Eastern mystery, while the local figures are either obstacles or doomed by their own greed. The whole “foreign hero deciphering an ancient Eastern secret” setup feels outdated and condescending. While the game doesn’t aim for historical accuracy, this kind of storytelling still leaves an uncomfortable aftertaste. If you’re just here for the puzzles, it’s enjoyable—but the narrative framing might not sit well with everyone.
This game is immersive and engaging, I love the unique puzzles that range from difficult to easy (and include an easy mode for those who might struggle on a few). However, there have been a few times I click on objects and the game doesn’t register my clicks on an iPhone screen, I have another friend who plays the game and she agreed that a few locations have a really hard time being picked up when playing on her phone, but she has mentioned that it is easier on her tablet! So maybe play on a tablet if you can :) I don’t know if this one is a glitch or if I’m just missing something but at the “drowning” scene where the metal knights are. I uncovered the petal code, tried every combinations I could think of based on the petals, but the puzzle still isn’t cracked. No “easy mode” is available for me at this scene which is the first time it hasn’t been available for a puzzle. Any help would be appreciated! Thank you!
Ok so I was reading the other reviews before writing mine. And saw the dev response on one of the reviews. This developer is a mum with a toddler, is an artist and had her husband pose for her drawings! Add on top of that creativity…lots of fun puzzles, simple yet engaging storyline, out-of-the-box (yet logical) challenges…for only $1.99! It can’t get any better than that! Loved the background music as it fit the traditional Asian style. The ONLY thing that imho could be improved is having faster click-response times? There’s a delay after clicking an area …so sometimes it seems as if nothing is happening so would click again…causing a mess of clicks. Not sure if it’s possible to address this. But it’s not a deal breaker either. There aren’t a lot of these kinds of adventure games in the App Store. Prob because they require a great deal of time, intelligence and talent! It’s also so refreshing to find a game that isn’t steeped in witchcraft and occult/demonic themes (like The Cube series…yuck). So will definitely be looking forward to her next game! Thank you!🙏🏻
I really enjoy the game so far and love the puzzles but i am really confused on the part where i have to knock on the door i have tried doing all of the gaps inbetween the wall cracks but i still cant get it
