This app stopped working (complete freeze) after iOS update to 14.5.1 Reloading the app from Apple Store didn't help.

This interface feels like it was written by somebody who spends the whole day writing SQL queries. While there’s a lot of power here, it would take something like a short cuts/Workflow style design overhaul to make it useful for most people. Like if it said could say “get all music” at the top, then you could drag in a filter of “from a decade” and choose 90s then drag in a filter “except one genre” and choose “electronica” - I know it’s a lot but at least people wouldn’t give up after looking at a bazillion options.

For some reason it doesn't have a lot of the fields iTunes has, like "date added" and "grouping". Also, it doesn't have iTune's ability to create sub-rule sets. You can get around it by making many smaller playlists and combining them, but that's still bothersome because it doesn't let you have more than 6 playlists at a time. It's nice that it works on the go, but this has way too many flaws to be the default player of anyone who knows how to use iTune's smart playlists properly. Unless you're going somewhere where you won't have easy access to iTunes, it just isn't worth the money.

Smart Playlist is now my default music player in my iPod Touch. It's a must-have app for those of us who have thousands of tracks in their Library.

So far this is the best playlist maker I've seen in app store. It does what it says - allows you to make much better customized playlists by adding different kinds of rules and filters. Some cons for which I took one star off: - interface is somewhat cluttered, its elements aren't well placed or organized. Specifically: buttons at the bottom of rules menu don't look descriptive enough of what they do. Sometimes different buttons seem to do the same thing, so it's confusing for a first-time user. Now playing and list menu look very cluttered because of poor use of spacing and contrast. Also not liking the different font sizes on each button in rules menu, but this is a minor problem. - occasional crashes. - only 6 playlists maximum, which you cant even rename or export into playlist menu (the latter might just not be possible on current iOS right now, I think.. But at least the first 2 things could be fixed). - rule grouping is a little iffy. For example, if I wanted to make this kind of playlist: (genre is A and artist is B) OR (genre is C and artist is D) - I don't want genre A to have artist D, or genre C to have artist B. It's POSSIBLE to make such a playlist, but the process of that is rather tedious, and you can't really save such playlist so each time you'd want to listen to it - you'd have to create parts of it from scratch. I suggest just making the rules menu similar to one in iTunes. iTunes way of making smart playlist is very well designed, so why reinvent the wheel? Overall despite those annoying drawbacks it's a nice app. It's not the most neat and pretty one, but it does what it's supposed to do, and does it much better than other apps I know of. I just hope its creators will soon address the issues I mentioned. With those issues solved it would truly become superior to other playlist makers in every way.

Returning to the Apple ecosystem and had to buy this app again because I couldn’t remember my old Apple ID. Well worth the money, this is a must have app for me, I love being able to create smart playlists on the go. The UI isn’t great but it works perfectly when you learn how to use it.

I've been using this powerful app for years to build weighted playlists of my music, where higher rated songs play more often than lower rated ones. (This cannot be done via iTunes on an iiPhone as Apple Music does not support live updating of any but the simplest smart playlists. Like any powerful tool, there's a learning curve but it's well worth the invested time. The developer is active and responsive. Great app. Highly recommended.

App was exactly what I was looking for - a way to make dynamic playlists. Doesn’t take too long to learn how to use, operates very smoothly, and not buggy.

This was my go to app for managing my music playlist. However the developer stopped updating and now after last 2 Apple iOS 14 updates now cause the app to just crash every time I try to load a list. Hopefully the developer will revisit and make fixes as this app allowed you to manage your loaded music in various custom lists with many options for filtering and sorting.
