Snout: Mushroom Identification

Good app overall. Would like to be able to identify mushrooms using pictures I have already taken. Really the only feature that’s missing for me

Nice design, however room for improvement. Identify with camera - would be better if you also had the option to load a picture from your camera roll. Would be good if you could identify a mushroom with no picture too - click defining features then a list of possible mushrooms.

Out of 5 free apps, this was the only one to actually help me identify. We took a picture then it walked me through the properties instead of asking like I knew anything on the others. Five stars ☺️

I just downloaded the app which looks great, but I clicked on one of the common mushrooms in my area and the app is totally frozen. I can’t get off that page at all. Closing and reopening the alp, swiping every which way. Nothing works.

Some screens don’t have any way out so you have to force quit the app and start again. The field guide is only browsable alphabetically, scrolling the list, one item filling the whole screen so it’s pretty much unusable. Too bad, it could be a really nice app!

I really wanted to like this app but it won’t even let me scroll down to continue reading. I have a relatively new phone and the latest OS (which has been out for a while) as of this post. I hope they fix it.

This app is a great concept and easy to navigate and use. I love the design of it. Currently I’ve noticed some bugs (for example, clicking on a mushroom to read more about it often doesn’t have a button to exit out or return to the previous screen), which make the app a little frustrating to use. I’d love to see more information presented about the mushrooms, or at least links to further reading. Great app so far, minus the minor bugs, keep it up developers!

This app is useless because you can’t upload a photo that’s already in your photo gallery. You have to take the photo with the app, but most of the time when you’re out in the woods there is no connection. All other apps I use allow for a photo you’ve already taken, so I’ll stick with those.

Picked up this app because of its good rating on mushroom identification. There are several mushrooms that I have identified which are not in the data base. Or that the app can not recognized. If your looking for an app to identify common looking mushrooms this one rocks but when you get to the more interesting ones it doesn’t even recognize them as a mushroom. Still a good way to learn because it helps you to find a starting point on your identification searches.
