Just got the app so can't say too much but seems to work well and has interesting information about the photos they share.

Space Photos is a simple way to learn more about the universe we live in. Discover beautiful images and fascinating facts about outer space!
The photos and commentary are provided by NASA’s Astronomy Picture of the Day service. You can view, share, and mark the best of them as your favorites. And when you feel extra curious, the app lets you select a day in the past, dating back as far as 1995. Go ahead and check out the photo published on your birthdate!
New photos are shared daily (around midnight ET), and you can receive notifications as soon as that happens—so you don’t miss anything.

Crashes
3/31/2020 v4.12 fixed the problem. Thanks! 3/30/2020 v4.11 problem persists as stated on 3/5. Deleted, reinstalled, tapped to launch, and returned to home screen. Note that when force quitting, the app “card” looks to be the day’s image. Same devices and iOS as reported on 3/8. 3/8/2020 Interesting that you don't have the device and iOS info as the 3/5 comment was posted from an iDevice. Anyway, iPhone SE and iPad Pro both running iOS 12.4.1 3/5/2020 v4.10.2 after downloaded update; tap “open” results in my home screen. Force quit app. Tap “open” = same crash.
