SpamHound SMS Spam Filter

I have blacklist rules, and when I check them against spam texts that I check, SpamHound agrees that they’re spam - they match my rules. But the spam texts don’t get filtered. It just doesn’t work. And yes, I do have SpamHound set to filter my messages. If disappointment.

It is difficult to tell when you are editing/reviewing the excluded list vs the allowed list. Also difficult to find messages that were filtered. There should be a page that shows all blocked messages.

Solved my election spam problem entirely. Takes a little setup when you first download, but we'll worth it. Check the FAQ for the developers filter advice, and set up the all the rules under the "blacklisting usage hints" to start. Customizd further from there. Personally, I added a rule for elections for the words vote, voting, running, election, ballot, or attorney General. Customize to your hearts content. My favorite feature is to block imessages from email address entirely. I have never gotten a message from an email that WASN'T spam, and from what I can tell apple doesn't let you turn them off. Again, this app is well worth the setup.

Still get messages with words that are to be blocked.

Useless

I was at my wits end. I googled for answers on how to stop unwanted text messages. I tried setting up my iPhone 13 with the Apple info to no avail. Then I went to my service provider and they couldn’t do anything. I finally decided to give Spam Hound a try and downloaded it from the Apple Store. SUCCESS! This app saved my sanity. I was receiving hundreds of spam texts a week! Once I downloaded and installed Spam Hound, 100% of all those ridiculous spam texts ended! Peace at last! Thank you Spam Hound.

Does not stop spam texts even though I have it set up to block links, etc. I still receive spam texts with links

Not compatible with iOS 18. I created and validated rules, but the messages never get blocked/moved to the junk folder. Also, the filtering rules are confusing. It’s not clear what the difference is between. Contains, Equals, regular expression, and wild card. Regular expression was the only one that seemed to validate in the messages I tested.

Somehow I have been getting continuously spammed from “sex” emails. These are being sent to groups of 20 recipients. No matter how I try to block them, they keep coming back. This app has finally freed me from these offensive messages. If you think you are immune because you are careful what you click- you are not! I am a female senior citizen. This app has saved me much embarrassment and hassle, and has spared me from concern that I might accidentally open one of these when trying to delete.

Worked perfectly the first two days then for no reason stopped blocking text messages. I even verified my rules should have blocked them using the “Checker” functionality.
