*Who we are*
SpecUdate was founded by college students who wanted to make meeting online a more fun, relaxed, engaging and enjoyable process while also improving conversation flow.

*How SpecUdate works*
When you make a profile on SpecUdate, you also make a "Truth or Lie" game about yourself. This game is shown to other people when they come across your profile on the app. When two people play each other's game, one or both must get 50% or more correct answers about the other person to connect and chat!
SpecUdate gamifies your experience finding new people. At the same time, once you connect with someone on SpecUdate to chat, the app uses the game aspect to help you learn more about your connections for more fun, interesting conversations.
By having users play each other's games before connecting, SpecUdate makes finding friends and dates online a much more relaxing and enjoyable process. Additionally, SpecUdate rewards you for guessing correct answers about a person. A cool bonus!

*Why SpecUdate is different*
The dating app concept began as, and often still is, a simple "YES" or "NO" decision for people when they look at another person's pictures and bio. Many apps still follow this long traditional theme.
The problem is that these apps become very boring very quickly, and do not help you make the first move once connected with someone to chat. This is a frustration our CEO experienced in his late teen years, finding himself constantly bored on dating apps and struggling to spark good conversations.
SpecUdate was founded to provide a more fun interactive way to connect online. This idea led to our gamification of the online dating & friends experience, SpecUdate!

*What we stand for*
SpecUdate was designed to put high focus on the individual, self-expression, and diversity. The name "SpecUdate" refers to the action of "speculating" about someone in the game itself. The "U" in SpecUdate is capitalized because of the high focus the app places on "U", the individual. SpecUdate is also for everyone! We want everyone we can to have a fun experience connecting online in the best and safest environment we can provide.

*Why it matters*
This past year has proven that we all have much more to learn about each other. We must be more open in our conversations, more understanding, and we must show more love and compassion for one another. If there's anything SpecUdate aims to help besides finding great relationships and friendships, it is these things mentioned here.
