Spirit Island

This is a brilliant game. Very very deep with decisions. The rules are actually not that hard to learn, it’s the depth that is challenging to think through and play well. The game has a tutorial which is great. The free beginning is a nice touch and I’m glad I dove in and bought the whole pack. Never played this in tabletop version before but loving it on iOS. Unfortunately looks like one reviewer did the old classic “3 stars, I’ll come back and update my review once they add multiplayer”. Well they have added multiplayer, but no update from old mate. This game deserves more than 3 stars easy.

Spirit Island is great. I love the theme, the mechanism, it’s all top notch. I find the game can be a little long with more players, but that could be the people I’m playing it with. The app is wonderful. I’ve bounced off a lot of app implementation of board games, but the user interface was easy enough for me to understand without having to go through a tutorial just to understand the layout. Fantastic work on development. I highly recommend this app as a good way to learn the game. The app corrected one of my rules errors I made that changed everything for me. I really enjoy choosing your spirit; the game shows not only the spirit board but the starting cards too. It makes it much easier get the gist of what the spirit is about. My only complaint is a lack multiplayer. I would love to play this game with my friends that are socially distancing or just live far way.

…sorry but the digital implementation shows it’s still in development. As an experienced SI tabletop player, your cards ARE the game. You need to be able to see all your cards at once, and zoom in to see their elements/abilities, and how their synergies interlock. The map is just the puzzle; the cards are my tools - it’s where the decisions and actions are. If this can be corrected, and asymmetric multiplayer added I will be back to boost my rating. If you’re an experienced SI player, you may be frustrated. If you’ve never played Spirit Island, this app is a great way to learn the game. It’s a top 10 game for a reason!

Excellent game and more amazed that the starter game is free. I am just using this to learn the game because I already have the actual board game, it was just too hard for me to understand. this tutorial is perfect.

I love both the game and digital implementation here! I’d really like to be able to lead my own play mat background and it would be great if the opening main menu could be disabled but it’s otherwise pretty ace.

1.Tutorial has no “back” button 2.Tutorial mentions “inland” and “coastal” but highlighted spaces that were obviously on the coast, but called “inland” without explanation 3. Tutorial mentions rare case of population growth… firstly, define population growth, secondly, why even mention this now? 4. Tutorial has no exit button. I have to close the app to get back to the main screen. I downloaded the app ready to pay for the full experience, but seeing how little care was put into it so far, I’m not going to bother

Thanks for a great board game to app transition. Add the ability to pinch zoom in to text for major/minor cards and action selection row on character cards and this game will be an absolute five stars.

So…one has to purchase the game and then, essentially, purchase it again if one wants to play more than five moves.

The game was put together well and plenty of different options, spirits to play with. I was looking forward to it. But am finding it too hard, too discouraging even with easy options selected. I want to enjoy the little time I have available to play.

As a physical board game, this is one of my favorite games. This digital version is quite good, and honestly my sole complaint is that when a game is won or lost it immediately jumps away from the board to an end screen "summary" and doesn't let you actually look over the final board state, look over what cards you had chosen for that spirit and how that and event cards/fear cards affected things, think about strategies for future games, etc (which is something I deeply enjoy doing when playing the physical version with friends)
