I love that I am able to track my spoons in the day, but it would be lovely if the spoons I borrowed from tomorrow were displayed instead of starting me at 12 again. For example, yesterday I borrowed 11 spoons from today, so it should start me at one instead of 12. If there's a way to do that, please do!! It's hard for me to keep track of how many I'm borrowing from the next day when it starts me at the same amount again.
App Costs Valuable Limited Daily Spoons
This app is helpful for learning the application of spoon theory, but it doesn’t allow for repeating activities like work, getting up, getting dressed, taking meds. These are daily tasks. Having to enter every activity, every day, manually is tedious and cumbersome. In fact, this app ends up costing a spoon or two everyday. It does not link intuitively into one’s daily life. Plus, it doesn’t subtract a spoon when you “borrow from tomorrow,” so it’s inaccurate; causing users to have to remember to add in the borrowed spoons from previous days, costing more time and energy, and making it even more cumbersome and time consuming.
I really wanted this to help, but it’s just not a valuable use of limited daily spoons.
Great Tool for Spoonies!
I have Alzheimer’s and I struggle with maintaining balance while managing daily tasks and the various challenges of each day. Spoon theory is new to me, but it’s the perfect metaphor for my life. And this app does a wonderful job of putting that theory into positive forward-moving action.
I am grateful for this great new tool, but especially to Julie for her one-on-one work with me on the app. How often does one get to actually speak with the developer? With this company, your feedback truly does make a difference.
I can’t believe this app is free! I look forward to using it daily and to being a part of its evolution. Keep up the good work! 🥄
just what i was looking for
i’ve been looking into energy accounting and spoon theory and i never thought i’d be able to make it fit for me. i got stuck on assigning everything a set number and thought it was all too complicated to help.
but this is nearly perfect.
my only notes are that the “borrowed from tomorrow” feature doesn’t seem to actually borrow (could just be my device). i think it’d be super helpful for it to automatically update the next day’s total, or to let users manually set/edit the total spoons for each day.
also, less importantly, more just a thought for organization purposes: a sorting menu for a day’s added tasks, or the ability to manually reorder them. it seems like it defaults to alphabetical order, but it would be cool to sort by completion or time added too!
anyway, super awesome. it’s helping me learn my own patterns better and use my energy in the most beneficial way every day.
Can’t recover/change password
Attempted to set up account, but my iPhone didn’t save the random password generated so I used the “forgot my password” reset function. This would be great, except it doesn’t work. No email is sent to reset your password so there is now no way to sign in the account or reset it. I also emailed the company without a response. Very frustrating and no way to use the app now.
super helpful!!
i’ve been using this app for just a few days and its very very helpful for me. it has made it so much easier for me to quantify my energy and manage it properly so thank you!
the only note i have is the spoon indicator, the colors could be a little more clear (maybe purple and green to match the activities?) that way it would make a bit more sense at first glance!
but overall, i really love it and will keep using it. i also like that you can plan for the next day and transfer activities from the day before. it would be super cool if you could save activities for certain days, like a monday or friday too!!
anyways, thank you so much for this app, i appreciate it a lot :)
I really really want to love this App…
This Idea is absolutely amazing and I appreciate and applaud you for first taking this concept on & then either having or learning the skills to make this App to begin with! Please I Really want this App to succeed and I will be showing it to my Doctors that handle chronic illnesses to hopefully help promote it some more seeing as I have quite a few Doctors in the Mayo system.
But having said that the app is not useful for me at current. The reason being is that my illness heavily influences how much energy I start out with each time I wake up, which is multiple times a day. Sometimes my energy may improve after getting more sleep, while other times it will just tank right out, only to rebound a little bit the next time I ‘nap’ – for lack of a better word to use as they can last from as little as a few minutes to multiple hours – which means I and others like me, would need more flexibility and control over their spoons and possibly be able to track around sleep patterns. I would also love to have the luxury of having just one day of a full 12 spoons, but I haven’t had one for over a decade now and I doubt I will get one anytime soon. So allowing those of us that don’t quite reach the daily 12 spoon allotment would be helpful.
😊 If you take in the original creator of this theory had said and insinuated in her conversation with her friend on the topic; She’d explain that each day when she woke up was different and she’d had to basically work with what she woke up with that morning as that was all the energy her body was able to regenerate over night for her to use the next day. So when she only found 12 spoons nearby and handed it to her friend, it had inadvertently demonstrated the concept she had been trying to convey, more poignantly than any words could, and then driven home by a firm and serious ‘No’ from her when her friend has tried to see if she could get more spoons when she’d told her friend that was all the energy she had for the day and every action she did would cost her a spoon.
This was a demonstration though, not a definitive measurement of the amount of energy everyone with a chronic illness could, should, or will fit into. Allowing for more flexibility in adding more or less spoons as they feel fit their energy levels that day and then allowing the users the control to decide the value of the Spoons to Energy ratio and calculate how that best fits into their life balance. People don’t typically like to be pigeon holed into one format of
Excited to see but needs more flexibility
I have chronic fatigue and one thing I have discovered is that I don’t start each day with a full set of spoons. I would like to see a percentage in quarters or something for how I think my day starts and then add a activities throughout the day. My Dr and I have been working to identify how many spoons activities take on any given day so I’m excited to see that I can adjust the spoon usage. I look forward to using this app in my daily life to help discover what drains me and what fills me.
Awesome but missing something
This app is great and exactly what I’m looking for! The only feature missing is the ability to make your own tasks that you can save. Besides that, it has everything I could ask for!
Great App but could be even better
In general, I find this app super helpful in managing my spoons. It also seems that the developer is really responsive to feedback! That said, here’s some things I like and a little idea for improvement.
I like that I can put in future events so I can plan around what I will need to save or replenish spoons for later in the day. It’s also very informative and teaches spoon theory - I’ve even shared the graphics with some friends and family when I explain spoon theory to them. Between fixing the log out issue and adding the replenishing of spoons, I have noticed that the developer listens to consumers. I appreciate that the app is free but I would probably be willing to spend a small cost for lifetime access; I think it’s worth that.
My feedback is to be able to save custom spoon entries on the drop down menu. In the drop down, you can choose from pre-saved entries, but you cannot customize this. I have activities I do frequently that are either not on the list or use a different amount of spoons for me. It can be tedious to type them in each time and try to remember how many spoons it costs. If this list could be individualized, I would find the app a bit more useful in day-to-day tasks. I also agree with other reviews that being able to adjust your starting spoons would be beneficial but not as important for me personally.
Thank you for this amazing app!
