I paid for this app many years ago, when using an iPhone 4. I used to love the AR element when looking up at the sky. Now, years later I re-downloaded it, only to find the AR feaure GONE, only available on Star Walk 2. Dirty, underhanded trick, removing a feature from the older version to make me pay again for the newer version. Shame on you! You’ll get no more money from me.
The app is amazing in its capabilities, but the use is not that intuitive overall. I guess it needs some getting used to. In fact, a complex app is a compliment in these days where anything is so easy, showing that the extensive functionality of the app is mind boggling. But there is room for simplification nevertheless. A very first would be to enable swipe to return to a previous view in the What’s New section and any other referencing interface. It’s a stupid thing not to have, as this is an overall intuitive gesture on mobiles on kind of all apps out there. The functionalities seems to be vast and complete, but I get anyways kicked out of the app to go and use another app instead. That’s when I want to check 3d space. It seems that one has to pay for that app’s functionality, and then I wonder what cluster of apps I am getting dragged into. I hope this doesn’t turn out to be a turn of over time. In the worst case, just let me pay a one time fee for all cluster app functionality, leaving me with a feeling that I will rather get more for my money than I can grasp at first... instead of the opposite. Feedback would be warmly welcome: how many apps do you have and what would be a comple set not to be surprised by a dead end street into a function outside this app??
Love this product, bought the first version which was also pretty awesome. Complements my night viewing kit, and it's extremely simple to use.
I use this whenever I wonder what point is what in the sky, or if I want to find out to time and date for a specific thing in the future. Also great to have data from Wikipedia for all the objects. And I tend to use the 3D-view of satellites and bodies when teaching friends about space. However, there are some down sides with the app: I get huge offsets from the truth when using the "turn phone in direction"-feature. It is sad that it takes up a lot of space but even when I've had to delete apps to make space for new ones, I've never deleted this one, as it is nice to have.
Just point and view. Click on an objects and read about it. Type a name and get directed. Simply awesome.
Grym app
