Text Browser

awesome app

It sometimes shows pictures, even when you put it in text mode. If you’re hoping to do research on something disgusting without having to look at it, this will *not* work. Really too bad because a text-only web browser could be great when doing research about phobias, sexual health, or recent atrocities in the news. Too bad it shows you the pictures anyway.

It is good and doesn't have any pictures on the sites I've seen and been to. It's pretty basic though and I wish there was some extra features like dark background at the very least.

Not a pure text only browser

I was expecting faster speed and no images in my iPhone 4S (iOS v9.3.6). 😒

I don’t have unlimited data, and using safari or news apps to read the news was using up my data. So I wondered if there was a text-free browser, and found this nice app. Thanks for offering this, it’s great! A+++

I have a 2014 mini-iPad that I bought with the minimal RAM (16?), and browsing I get crashes most of the time. I was using Chrome for the past 3 years, but just switched to Firefox and got some improvement. But getting a "text browser" was the best move I ever made in browsing! And this one works very well. (And for some odd reason, it's also showing me photographs sometimes.) Fantastic! So much happier browsing articles that I just want to read w/o pop ups and crashes and surprise moves of the text on the screen.m. It was like instead of reading I was playing a video game of "Guess where the text you're trying to read is going next!"

I like this apt. Some VB & Java gets through, but the speed increase is substantial. As an added bonus no waiting for adds to load when all you care about is the article. Great for doing fast research. A back button in the tool bar but the simplicity of this browser is exceptional.

I really want to love this browser. But it has many deficiencies. Primo, it isn't a true text only browser. Pics do show up; try searching for anything in Google and watch them appear. It also has very little in the way of customization: no way to change colours or fonts, no restriction of style elements, no bookmark folders, no way to represent as another browser... This is all jake except that sites with explicit html only pages don't always display correctly. That said, this browser is a sorely needed app which helps the user gain a bit of control back in their web browsing. I hope it continues to progress toward delivering the kind of power fans of Lynx and its descendants admire.

Great for browsing sites that abuse or misuse JavaScript and other resources on the phone. For example, let's me continue listening to Spotify in the background by not taking over the sound system.
