Beschreibung

The leading review of the arts and intellectual life. Download for a FREE sample issue. The New Criterion is a monthly review of culture and the arts edited by Roger Kimball. Founded in 1982 by the art critic Hilton Kramer and the pianist and music critic Samuel Lipman, The New Criterion began as an experiment in critical audacity, a publication devoted to engaging, in Matthew Arnold's famous phrase, with "the best that has been thought and said." Harry Mount in the Daily Telegraph of London has called The New Criterion "America's leading review of the arts and intellectual life" Julian Symons, in the Times Literary Supplement, writes that "As a critical periodical, The New Criterion is probably more consistently worth reading than any other magazine in English." Published monthly from September through June, The New Criterion brings together a wide range of young and established critics whose common aim is to bring you the most incisive criticism being written today. Terrible player (on a phone). I have the paper copy also, but this comment pertains to the digital pdf.

Great magazine, one big flaw

Dead Write on

The flaw is that you can’t alter the font size. So on anything smaller than a regular iPad, it’s hard to read.

The worst app ever

This app is unintuitive and impossible to navigate.

Terrible subscriber interface

CT_News_junky on

Vereinigte Staaten

I subscribed to the magazine on 7/14. After struggling with the interface I was finally able to get trigger a message that I should wait to log on until 8/4, that my subscription had not started. Yet another legacy publication that fails to transition to the internet effectively.

Poor App Design

The app says my login information is incorrect when I know I have entered my credentials correctly. Therefore it is unusable

Great publication, terrible mobile app

Joe-T on

This mobile app is basically a low-powered PDF viewer. It is very hard to use. It would be simpler to print the articles on paper and read them there. The text does not paginate or adjust to the device size. There is no find way to bookmark pages. There is no dark mode. There is no integration with Apple News.

Wonderful magazine, horrifically awful app.

Great articles, but the app, which simply presents pdf-like copies of the issues, lags on my iphone x and, astoundingly, doesn’t save your spot in an issue, which is ridiculous.

UPDATE! Working fine!

It took time and several emails but the app is working good and the content of the magazine is amazing. Thank you so much!
