Lead a superpowered team of "Superlatives" to defend 19th-century Victorian London! Battle a Martian warship, clockwork monsters, and nefarious inventors.
"The Superlatives: Aetherfall" is a 260,000-word interactive novel by Alice Ripley. It’s entirely text-based, without graphics or sound effects, and fueled by the vast, unstoppable power of your imagination.
The prestigious Society for the Advancement of Individuals of Superlative Talent and the Protection of the Queen has invited you to become their newest member! But on the very day the Society plans to initiate you, unknown Villains destroy the Society headquarters and kidnap your colleagues! As the sole remaining full member of the Superlative Society, you must initiate new recruits to investigate the abduction.
Meet your team: Nimble—faster than lightning; Wailer—a "banshee" with sharp blades and sonic shriek attacks; Arturek—the gruff Martian warrior; Tua—a Venusian who commands the power of plants; and Black Orchid—a strangely familiar new recruit. Your efforts are bolstered by your faithful Clockwork assistant, Gatsby, and your always-butting-in rival, Hallow.
Will your gain your team’s trust and convince them to work together, or will they fall apart under the pressure? Will you cut a deal with London’s Villains, or even turn the Society into Villains yourself? Will you trust the mysterious Dusk and Mr. Ink, who offer you help, or will you uncover their many secrets?

As a long time fan of Choice of Games Text Adventures I can honestly say this is one of my all time favourites. With a great story, great characters, a fantastic main character that you can create, and a expansive universe rife with a story that makes you want to dive right in. Eagerly looking forward to the sequel I hope is coming.
Loved It!
I need more!
My first review for a first rate game
I don’t review things, but in my fever induced mania perhaps I’m turning over a new leaf. I’ve played lots of excellent Choice Of games, my favorites being the Heroes series, so you can probably see a trend here.
But I don’t know if I’ve ever been as drawn into a world like I have with Superlatives. Weather Control is one of my favorite powers so that helps, and I genuinely enjoy leading a team where other games have only given you the facade of doing so, that I’ve played anyway.
I like the characters, I’m genuinely interested to see what each one thinks and says, who they are as people and heroes.
Now I’m not that far in, maybe chapter 5 or so, but everything is so consistent thus far that I’d be surprised if it took a nose dive.
I’ll certainly review again once I’ve finished but I look forward to playing the rest with great aplomb.
Wonderful!
This game is amazing! I’ve played it through twice now, and will probably give it another go soon. I desperately hope we’ll see a sequel in the future!
need a sequel
i’ve been playing choice of games for years and this is my favorite of all. long, complex, well-rounded, well-written, inventive, and compelling. plus, dusk. swoon. i’ll be replaying this one for a while, and i really hope this story continues.
One of my favorites (mild spoilers)
I’ll keep this very simple and short; I absolutely love how the story is written and the variety of personality’s each character has.
——————————————————————
My only issue with it at the moment seems to be a error in coding when it comes down to picking who is more likely to be the target. I had picked to stay and defend Dusk, but in the next chapter it follows that I had picked Gatsby, when I in fact had picked Dusk. This is a bit deheartening but what can you do. I really do hope this can be fixed.
Top notch
This has been one of my favorite stories so far. There’s action and character development and surprising twists. Great job to the author and wvowho helped make it such an entertaining tale!
Worth your time and money
So I don’t normally write reviews for anything but this one deserves it. I went into this thinking it was going to be another story trying to be hero rise. I was however fairly surprised.
Lets start with the pros
PROS
.Fantastic characters
.Fun story
.Great villains
.Real choice
CONS
.somewhat bad pacing in places such as a character reveal early on.
.In places some plans fall through when it feels like they should go off without a hitch
.conversations with your team can be quite shallow at times.
If these aren’t too frightening to you get it it’s a real treat with what seems like a taste of what’s to come
Loved it!
That was absolutely amazing! Personally I'm a huge fan of choose your own adventure stories, and this is easily the top of the list! Honestly, I'd give it a 10/10 if that was possible.
Great!
This game was awesome. I wish I could have gotten a little deeper into my romance with Hugh, but otherwise I have no complaints. I used to read choose your own adventure books as a kid. This is the first adult kind of version of that which I’ve really enjoyed. :)
