Thinkware's dashcam range is upmarket, expensive, and has huge potential. But for fans of the connected streaming and live protection of geofencing, CCTV and motion-activated vigilance there's a paywall coming - subscribe to live services (which seems unclear if that includes a 4G/LTE connection or not) and end up screaming in frustration at the half-baked connectivity of models like the Q1000, which took an experienced tech reviewer almost an hour to get to behave. Problem one - to control the dashcam you connect to WiFi. Which ties up WiFi. Cleverly you can sign on to hotspts, sorry hotspots with it talking over bluetooth, but the system has to reset /every time/ you get lost with it "failing to connect to hotspt". If you're doing this over an actual phone hotspot wifi has to reset and rejoin the phone to reconnect to reenter the network you want it to join. Why so much about hotspots? Because Connected won't register the Q1000 unless you connect the dashcam to a network first. Scan the barcode, type it in, it doesn't actually help - just rejects it. The pointer to use the link app (of which there are at least three vague variations) is on the phone number page, not the barcode page. Eventually you get the camera to connect and register it. Assuming you haven't hurled it out of the car screaming. The connect app works - but your camera hasn't auto connected to your home network! It can see it, there's signal, but nothing. So you load the link app, go through the cycle of finding/comnecting to network... cannot find hotspt. Get it to connect and it's hit and miss whether it'll work - and the live view from your camera is metered, but guess what - if you have 300 minutes and the camera isn't actually sending you footage, you're staring at a progress wheel or empty connection, but it's taking your minutes away regardless. This system is only good - and only worth paying for - if it is seamless. Park car, your car hotspot or phone shared connection goes off, it should automatically connect to the home wifi. You should be able to register the device in a single app. And Thinkware needs to reconcile and optimise this mess of apps and lack of cohesiveness between systems. But above all, this cycle of WiFi connections, disconnections, lack of auto connection to registered networks that can be seen yet somehow not connected to needs to be resolved. It's frustrating beyond belief. Anyone who isn't technically savvy is going to be completely defeated by it

App works well with thinkware T700 Just what I wanted no problems as of yet

Love this T700 LTE can. Stream from wherever and constant updates e.g. if someone bumps your car while you're not there. Real time footage is key here. More often than not the perpetrator has already done a runner by the time you check your footage to see what happened. No chance of an insurance company proving who was driving with number plate alone but with this you can go catch them real time. Oh and it's great for seeing which neighbour's cat has been chewing my windscreen wipers!

It won’t recognized my car hotspot and that’s a major issue for me. I just bought this device two days ago and I am thinking of returning it. I bought two for both my cars.

I was trying to get an additional memory mini card to work. Customer service gave me incorrect information. Instead of telling me that I needed a custom card for my model, according to their website, she told me that I needed to simply pay for another card. A waste of money. I’ve also given up trying to get my unit to function with the app.

Had no issue connecting to the application despite all does one stars. Would be nice to request a live view and see the battery % even in low power mode, A radar health check is also missing.

Omg what did I do why wasted my money on this horrific dumpster, 3 hours of trying to just register the cam u3000 all failed. Buyer beware!!!!!!

It could be better, but once connected it works as expected. If someone drives my car, it’s cool that I can see their live driving feed while driving. The GPS maps cool too as it maps “start and stop” driving locations.

Camera works ok, but can’t register the U3000 in this app.
