ThriftBooks: New & Used Books

i used to swear by this app years ago, but now pricing is actually much cheaper on amazon

I’m trying to use the book buying feature, and I can’t get it to scan the barcode anymore, so I have to hand key the ISBN in, so it takes way longer to scan books now

I tried creating an account, logging in on the website in various browsers, and finally downloaded this app. Every time I went to checkout I was returned to the login page. I called toll free for help. That is useless as I was only able to access a list of recordings. Nobody alive. The Chat gave me an idiot that told me the problem was with my browsers or to delete and update the app that I just downloaded. Totally not worth my time. Will NEVER buy anything from them as they will not let me login.

I have had relatively good experiences with thrift books over the years. As a homeschool mom, the teacher benefits are great. I wish that the app formatted for a tablet, though.

For the most part I am getting what I pay for but can I make a request? I prefer to buy hardcovers and even if it’s not the best condition, I like the dust jackets. I paid for a few books in “like new” condition assuming that they weren’t like new if they had no dust jacket. Maybe just an assumption on my part but can you add the feature to at least tell me if my book will come with a dust jacket or not? Even if if you need to create a different option to select that?

I like that I can find so many things on ThriftBooks that I cannot find in used bookstores. The selection is terrific and the prices are fair. But I have had some problems with orders. A book that was listed in like new condition came with a split hardcover. Another books that I bought as a like new hardcover was deliver as a good softcover. I sent emails to ThriftBooks customer service and got no response. I guess they are churning so low priced many books to so many customers, they don’t see customer service as important.

I love thriftbooks and will continue to purchase from them, however the app is frustrating because you cannot go “back” to more than one previous page, then it just starts alternating between the current and previous page, back and forth back and forth. I can’t get back to my search results and have to search it all over again.

I wanted to see if I could sell some of my previous books downloaded this app so that I could scan the barcode and instead of having to manually type everything in, but it doesn’t work. I tried restarting my phone off and on again made sure that my lens was clear, but it would never scan the book.

I’ve been a loyal customer of ThriftBooks for many years, recommending them to everyone. That all changed today when I attempted to correct an issue with a $4 book in my order and was met with contempt by Diertra of the “customer service team.” I have been educated by her that this company does not stand by their listings nor by their policies to correct mistakes on their end. Don’t worry Diertra, I won’t be bothering ThriftBooks any further.
