Tick Tock: A Tale for Two

my wife and I play a lot of board and video games together and honestly this style of game might be my favorite. similar to The Past Within and a step up in difficulty, this game requires good communication, cooperation, and insight from both parties. I love the cerebral nature of it and how it forces you to use your words and ask for what you need. it's a real lesson in good communication honestly. and it's ultra satisfying to complete the harder puzzles together. the vibe of this one is great. it's spooky without being scary or corny. the story unfolds in a very interesting way. love the ambiance. love this - would certainly buy more like it and

I really enjoyed playing this game. I used two iPads to play this game, but this also reminds me of the past within a game a game I once played

Overall loved the game and puzzles! It’s been a great way to connect with a special someone while we are on opposite sides of the country. I’m taking 2 points off for the ending which felt a little rushed and anticlimactic. Would have appreciated a little bit more closure to the storyline and to not have suggested that we “lost time”.

My partner and I played this together - we enjoyed it! Chapter 3 got us, spent the most time there. Only reason this didn’t get 5 stars is because it wasn’t longer!

It was fun while it lasted, but it ends abruptly in the middle of the story with no explanation. We were playing for about 2 hours when we reached the end and it said something about how it is designed to waste time (story line was supposed to be about clock makers or something and people disappearing into the clock). My guess is the developers didn’t feel like working on it anymore and decided to go with the whole “wasting time” theme at the end as a cop out. Also the puzzles start to just be a bit random over time, but that is a minor flaw compared to it randomly ending with no explanation.

Frustrating and unenjoyable. Didn’t give two turds about the characters.

I was torn between giving this game 3 or 4 stars. Ultimately I decided it’s 3 stars, because while I like the gameplay style, these co-op puzzle games never put enough effort into the story. The story ended up being more confusing than any of the puzzles we solved. I think the developers had to finish the game in a hurry, because it ended very abruptly. Without giving any spoilers, I will say the ending is a disappointment to say the least. It leaves a lot of loose threads unexplained, which is why I think a longer game was originally planned and it was ended prematurely. I actually liked the way the narrative started off. The game has a mystery vibe with some time travel and supernatural elements. Great atmosphere. Could have actually been a great story too if they didn’t end it abruptly. That said, we got a solid 3 hours of gameplay, which is decent for a $3 game. I recommend playing it in one sitting. The puzzles are mostly of the generic escape room style, where you have to figure out a lot of code sequences to progress. The way the co-op element works is each player has separate hints needed to crack the codes. So I guess the puzzles aren’t extremely original. But they’re pretty straightforward and just clever enough to keep you entertained. But still, I would say the puzzles are pretty easy if you’re used to this kind of game. Definitely not like the adventure games of old. The most annoying thing about the puzzles is a number of them required memorizing sequences. Although I guess you can write them down. Still, I prefer games that don’t require memorizing or writing. Nevertheless, the co-op mechanic works surprisingly well for a game with no networking, and we had fun for 3 hours…even though the story was a let down.

Honestly this app could of been free. It was a fun game but is way too short for an app that you have to pay. Is not like I will play again since it will just repeat the same thing. It leaves you wanting more. My husband and I had fun for that short time playing it.

Overall the puzzles were fun but as you go, the puzzles are… interesting. Some of them - I just genuinely don’t know how you are to solve them without a walkthrough. Maybe my fiancé and I are not great puzzle solvers but we do enjoy these kinds of games and play them regularly and this game left us feeling “meh.”
