“Tiny Armies” is truly an exceptional game.
**SCROLL TO THE BOTTOM FOR SUGGESTION FOR THE GAME IF DEV IS READING**
The essence of the idea of this videogame is that one commands a small, fictional, animated battalion, and that they are required to eliminate rival militaries with the goal of becoming the victor. This game is extremely strategic, though entertaining, and can become highly competitive while playing on cooperative mode. This is partially due to the various obstacles that are encountered throughout the gameplay which makes the player go through various series of troubles, struggles and dilemmas. For example, the infamous “sea” obstacle. This body of water will instantly eliminate your soldiers if they pass through it. This means that the player will have to make several important decisions. For example: whether to sacrifice a soldier into the accumulation of water in order to save your other soldiers, or to take the risk of an all-out-attack against the enemy. This is solely one out of numerous other things that make the game challenging. However, it is to be noted that there are multiple things that give one a certain advantage. A notable action calls for one soldier as a reinforcement on the battlefield, which can be incredibly useful to the battle - as a matter of fact, it is oftentimes a game changer. Therefore, one can clearly see the difficulties that emerge from the game. However at the end of the day, the victor of the conflict is not the player with the most or strongest soldiers, but in actuality, the battle is won by the best tactician with the most intelligent strategies. One noteworthy feature of this great videogame is the mode that supports cooperative gameplay. This feature allows the person who owns the game to play with a maximum of three other people, signifying that the game can be played by four people at once! This allows each player to imagine that their own friends are now their enemies in war! This has proven to increase competition between players. Additionally, in times of war, temporary or permanent alliances between the commanding generals of the armies may be desired, though, could be treacherously broken in an act of betrayal. This competitive, but dubious aspect of the game significantly increases the level of enjoyability and amusement that arises from the game. In conclusion, the masterpiece of a game, “Tiny Armies”, is a genuinely enjoyable, strategic and challenging game for everyone to play. This game is definitely one to recommend.
A suggestion for
Leaves you wanting more
This is a great little puzzle game. The visuals are pleasing and intuitive and the sound design is unobtrusive. The gameplay is a pretty even mix of strategy and luck, which sometimes means playing a level multiple times until things go your way. Thankfully, each level is very short, so replaying them isn’t a chore. The handful of levels that were either entirely strategy or entirely luck were the most fun to play.
It’s incredibly short, taking less than an hour to complete. I would happily pay another £0.89 for another set of stages. There’s a pass-and-play mode and a mode where you play against the computer, but the levels are randomly generated and the only thing you can customise is the number of players. These modes would be a lot better if they had customisable settings. I’d love to be able to toggle fog of war and types of obstacles and to choose the board size.
Overall it’s a great game that’s entirely worth the price, but it’s over in a flash and has little replay value.
Great game
I am enjoying the game and would like to make a suggestion. In skirmish mode you always have to go first however it would be great if you could add a feature where you can switch on/off random player start. It would be great to try this being the 2nd/3rd/4th player to move.
A nice puzzle game
Works fine for me (looking at the other review). Plays really well with swipes. Happened to see this on a website. Shame these Watch games aren't easier to find on the watch app. Hope the dev produces more
Postman Pat
Will not go further than initial window. Avoid.
Doesn’t work on iPhone 15
Won’t get past first screen
Good, but…
The maps sometimes trap my soldiers and I have to drown myself, or it’s made so that I can’t win. Maybe you should try making certain blocks (like water) not spawn in certain places? Thanks, good job!
Game doesn’t work
Can’t get past the first screen. Says swipe but nothing happens.
rediscovered, still gold
Got this game years ago for my Apple Watch. Recently rediscovered it for my iPhone and am loving every moment of it. It’s a classic and it’s one of those games that would excel at multiplayer online battles if the devs wanna go that route. I have more ideas too and would like to reach out!
This game is awesome but it’s broken.
I really enjoy this game, so I was interested in playing multiplayer. I bought it for a few of my friends, but one of them has the newest iPhone and wasn’t able to get past the initial “Swipe Up” screen. Then, the iMessage version doesn’t allow certain directions of swipes. It seems to be registering as attempts to dismiss the iMessage App window.
If these things were fixed, I was hoping to set up tournaments with my friends. I’d be very grateful, and I’d make sure my friends’ friends all bought copies and told their friends.
Thanks for making a clever, unique, and well-crafted game!
