Mediokre XMPP and useless on watchOS
Well I see that the makers of this would rather invest into their own protocol, but they could also extend XMPP instead with their propritary stuff. Anyway, not offering XEP0363 in 2024 is just a no go in my opinion. It's not okay to silo voice messages onto a random server, leaving both parties in the dark about how long it's gonna be there etc. Also it's of zero help if you see voice messages from other XMPP-clients arrive as links whose, in the case of Opus-files, you cannot even play in Safari, let-alone the Apple Watch. Oh and speaking of the latter, Trillian on watchOS doesn't work without the iPhone nearby, nor is it possible to use the watches keyboard (series 7 and up) to type messages. This way, it's impossible for blind people to type, as they can't scribble for obvious reasons.
