TTMIK Stories - Learn Korean

The idea of ​​the application is very interesting, but the texts are very strangely distributed among the levels. the application sent me to level 6, at this level the texts and vocabulary are quite easy. I decided to check the texts at other levels and saw at level 1 words that are studied at 3급. For me, vocabulary at level 1 turned out to be more useful than at level 6

Since there are so few materials for graded reading for Korean this is a good resource especially because there is good quality audio that accompanies every story. The length of the stories also makes it quite effortless to read regularly. However, the price is very steep. What is worse, there are quite a few glitches for an app this pricey. Sometimes the questions don’t match the story or the audio doesn’t sync well or the next story doesn’t load properly. The higher levels also seem to have less stories available. It’s also a shame that only certain words can be looked up for translation (some of which seem too easy for the level they are in and some that are from English words already).

If you’ve ever struggled to find digestible reading material, this app solves that. It’s quick reading, with so much variance that you’ll always learn something new. And the definitions are built into the stories so you can check and learn as you read without swapping apps. It has great tools to help you memorize new words by personalized flash cards, and audio if you’re not a fan of reading or just to practice listening skills. I took off a star because the quizzes were a little too simple for me and was easy to guess the correct answers, however the overall convenience is incredible. Hopefully they make it more affordable in the future!

The stories are all so interesting and fit my level that I learn enough without struggling. It felt like slowly building up my skills without too much strain that it discourages me. This is really good for anyone wanting to improve their Korean.

The stories are great, and this app is handy for exam such as the TOPIK exam with the quizzes. I would say this app is a must-have for anyone serious about acing the exam.

It's become a part of my daily routine. This app provides short and fun stories that I can read when I have a short break, so I can quickly finish at least one story in a few minutes.

This app creates a great complement to the TTMIK workbook lessons and gives much needed extra practice from those books to solidify understanding. I think that the vocabulary review features on this app could be improved drastically in order to prevent people from forgetting words they read several days/weeks ago, but other than that the app is very helpful in seeing common idioms and spoken phrases. One other feature idea would be “script” stories for each level, where all of the reading is dialogue between characters and would allow for more practice with spoken phrases. Overall, great app for learning Korean!

This is an excellent app for learning Korean. Read the stores / articles and take the quizzes regularly and your Korean will improve accordingly. Highly recommend. 6/4/24: I recently finished level 5 and I am moving through level 6. I like to alternate 1:1 between stories and articles in order to maximize spaced interval learning effects. Within the profile screen where it shows the user’s progress (X/100 articles and X/100 stories), we should be able to click on articles or stories to go directly to the next item in queue to be read. Currently, you need to click first on the root link to articles/stories screen and then toggle between articles/stories and so on. This creates unnecessary additional clicks..

I’m not able to update or delete my previous review so I wanted to mention, the app was fixed within a day and everything has been working great since then. This app is an amazing learning tool and now the subscription is cheaper so it’s an incredible value!
