Racist Company, BIPOC please avoid this service
My booking was great. I really had high hopes for this services. No major issues. The issue came with the return. I communicated to the customer service team that I was running behind for my return time. The customer service agent Christina was very rude. She said return at 5pm or we’re turning the car off. I tried to explain to her that I was not going to be there exactly at 5pm due to traffic. My eta was 6:15pm. For some reason she could not comprehend that. So 5pm passes and she starts manually turning on the heater, steering wheel heater and seat warmers. Mind you LA is in the middle of a summer heat wave. Everytime I turn on the AC she keeps turning the heat on and seat warmers on. The car was getting very hot and at this point I’m dropping in sweat. I had to pull over because I was starting to get heat exhausted. At this point I pleaded with Christina to stop turning on the heat but she refused to do so. She was not allowing me to continue me drive to return the car. I told her that I’m dropping in sweat and it is crazy to be treating a paying customer like that just for being an hour late. So now she threatens me and tells me the police have been dispatched to retrieve the car. THAT IS VERY MUCH OVERKILL FOR A LATE RETURN. The rental agreement states that if your late you get charged a $35 late fee and for the hours you had the car. Police would only be dispatched in the case if the car wasn’t returned 24 hours after the return time. It has only been 2 hours. So now the car is just sitting parked because she won’t allow me to return the car. I’ve rented from numerous car rental service and never have things escalated like this due to me being an hour late. This experience made me feel uncomfortable. They make you take picture everyday to get your virtual key. I definitely feel like me being black was the reason why she escalated things so quickly. I advise any BIPOC to avoid using this service.
