Edit:
I e-mailed them with all the problems and they replied with a simple ‘with an update it works’. It does not and it crashed again and got rid of all my process. Will not be using it again.
Original: While I like the idea of this app and how it stimulates you to have a work-out 3 times a week, the app itself is very crappy and full of mistakes and no guide. -one some days there are no breaks and it keeps on going one work-out to the next. - at the ‘coming up next’ are mistakes as well as they don’t all line up with what it next to come. - the app keeps crashing mid work-out, about 2-3 times every time. Very frustrating and honestly I don’t want to use it just because of that. - honestly there is zero support/help as to how to execute a move. What to look out for, tips etc. I bought the bodyshock routine and is nowhere as good as the Build routine Definitely a waste of money.
Great content, not so great app (edited)
Edit: since my review there has been an update with many quality of life upgrades, such as being able to control the video during the exercises, the dial die the amount of reps automatically preselecting the recommended reps, remembering which resistance you choose in the previous set, less and better to understand post workout options and so in. Great to see the dev toke those in account and makes the app so much easier to use!!
Original: While the videos of James are great, as always, the app itself lacks many user friendly features and has to, in my opinion, still mature a lot seeing as there are even very obvious spelling errors in it. For example, after the workout the app asks ‘How do you feel’ and ‘Very mind’ seems like a weird option (should be mild), another one has an underscore in the text. All of which makes me wonder whether this app is (user)tested at all. It looked fine, up until I bought the TA2 Build program, seeing that it lacks many features and is frustrating to use. I’ll sum up a couple, maybe it could help the devs. For now, I’ll be using it purely for the videos, but if your reading this you’ll be better of using the web version I think (haven’t used that one):
1. Video keeps autoplaying after every set
2. I can’t control the video, for example wanting to see something earlier in the video but there are no controls
3. Many times a poor video quality, while my internet connection is good
4. The photos explaining an exercise are of very, very little help. There are small, there is no text or explanation. So you really need the video, which, as I stated before, you cannot control. I would like more text and images as to help me do the exercises correctly
5. The rest timer is great but a notification sound would be nice as for when the next set starts
6. The dials to select reps and resistance used are just awful and tedious, I would rather want to select the recommended reps by default or change it only if it’s different, which in most times, it won’t be
7. Videos are sometimes not loading, for when doing an exercise for the first time you’re stuck with only two small images. I had to go to YouTube to look for the correct way to do this exercise
8. There are too many options on the ‘How do you feel’ after the training. Five would be more then enough (there’s UX research on these kind of things)
These are just some of the things I ran into. As of now I don’t think it’s worth using the app as it’s more frustrating then helpful.
Great workout program, the app is terrible…
The workout program is great, but the app is down regularly which is extremely frustrating. They completely changed the format of the app a few months back but unfortunately did not seem to fix any of the bugs. It’s almost always a waiting game (sometimes taking days) to get access back to your workout program.
It’s now even worse than it was before
They took whatever tiny bits of this app that were working and ruined them as well. You know have to skip through each video to reach the exercise you’re looking for. Calendar completely useless. A real shame.
Great program, terrible app
The app used to be useful, there were some issues but you could make your way through a workout. I’m not sure why Undersun took such a huge step backwards with this app but you can no longer track weight (band size,) sets, or reps.it’s mind boggling how a company can take something somewhat useful and get rid of most of the features. Shaking my head at how bad this thing is as I delete the app and move on to something different.
So good 😍
So good :)
Was good, now terrible. Chase is still the man.
Chase, the customer support guy and Under the Sun is fantastic. Give that man a raise.
What was a functional workout tracker and instructional video at the start of each exercise is no longer available. It’s just a long string of what’s YouTube videos. It’s a shame as the content is good. There was a note in the Facebook group that they intend to restore some of the functionality by Spring 2023, but they’re changes too slowly to keep customers happy.
Old version better
This version has great video quality but that’s where it stops. They got rid of the workout log, and videos that were attached to each exercise. Now the video is continuous and you have to manually pause as you progress through each exercise. Disappointing choice by Undersun.
Terrible upgrade
You guys had an amazing app before . This new app is absolutely terrible . The videos don’t even work! I lost all my prior content that I paid for .. what gives
For some reason every single arm day video doesn’t play
Was great not so much
It has been in here since I have used this my app I wanted to use it again. It was great for my weight loss and strength training. I do not like this current app, you can’t track your set or reps. This is a down grade from how it used to be! The workouts them selves are great but the deliver could be better! Customer services has always been great for me so no complaints there.
