Wonderful resource to learn solo, without need of anyone’s help.

Been looking for a good Swift learning app for a bit. I finally found this one and was shocked to know it was completely free. It’s been a massive help

Paul Hudson is probably the most engaging speaker / lecturer in his field. Relaxed in his nature, he engages your interest and promotes thought. I am totally impressed.

The bite size lessons with a mini-quiz after each topic is a great way to test understanding.

No other app to teach coding comes remotely near how well-designed this one is, mirroring Paul Hudson’s excellent website. The pacing is great, and the writing is clear whilst still being comprehensive. There is an enormous repository of quizzes and test material that will help you successfully retain the information after you read it, which is essential. I really feel the future of the textbook might look like this. The only niggle that I have is about the quizzes. Often, in the immediate consolidation quizzes, the errors you are supposed to pick up are miscellaneous syntax errors which aren’t pertinent to the topic being taught. Clearly these are important for code to compile properly in the end, but when you are learning a new concept it creates a lot of mental load to check every last thing and means you spend less attention on learning the current concept than assorted syntax errors.
