This is as bad as it gets for a transportation, tickets purchasing app.
User interface is bad
Performance is brutal
Almost nothing works
Can’t even sign in most of the times.
There is no need to create an app if the web experience (which is still not great) is 10x better than the app experience. You are just making it worse.
Schedules are wrong
Baffling that this apps train time schedules are wrong! Only after waiting an additional 20 minutes in the cold did I realize Google Maps has the correct schedule, and this official UP Express app does not!?!?

App signs you out right when you need it most
Every time I go to use it... which, let’s keep in mind, is when I commute to work on this commuter train, so that’s as often as daily... I will open it up and find I need to sign in again. Not only that, but it will consistently encounter an error when I do try to sign in (error 500, if anyone is keeping track or cares) and won’t allow me to sign in. Then I try closing and restarting the app; won’t let me sign in. Restart my phone; won’t let me sign in. Reset my password; won’t let me sign in... so inevitably I will stand at the train entrance while the ticket-checkers watch me try each of the FIVE log in options: email, Facebook, Google, Twitter, and Bytemark; won’t let me sign in... as I further panic and let other riders pass me one after another as I have an inner melt down from the fury of dealing with this company’s useless and embarrassing (for both parties) app. Read the other comments... I KNOW I’m not the only one experiencing this issue. You know what finally works? Deleting and reinstalling the app from the AppStore. Then I can finally
Log in.... until the next time I go to use it and guess what? It won’t let me sign in. Please get your app together.
Easy to use and convenient
I was initially hesitant to download the app given all of the negative reviews about login and ticketing issues but I decided to give it try and had no issues. I created an account via the app with no problems. The password requirements are pretty standard nowadays (at least 6 characters, 1 uppercase, 1 lowercase, 1 special character). I purchased a ticket via the app as well and had no issues - you do need to store you credit card info in the app though, a bit annoying. It was easy to find my ticket but it said I had to activate it but did not explain what that means. I had to google to find out that once you activate a ticket, you have to board within 30 minutes. If you don’t activate it, the tickets are valid for a year. Luckily, I didn’t immediately activate my ticket because by the time I arrived to the station, it would have timed out and become invalid. I think the 30 minute window should be extended to allow for more time to get to the station and board the train. The ride was so much better than the TTC - not crowded, clean and comfy seats, and it’s super fast (7 minutes to get from Bloor to Union).
Bytemark . . . Bites
I have tried several time to create an account and login on the app. I’ve been in touch with tech support and they keep telling me the problem will be fixed in an hour, and to re-doenload the app. It’s all stall tactic and there seems to be. I interest in actually making an app that can do the most basic thing. Log in.
Possible the worst app ever?
I downloaded the app last week. First problem i encountered was that it wont let you create a new account (error 500). I called support and they asked me to re download the app an hour later and the problem would be fixed. Its been a week and I still get the same error. What kind of developer allows their app to be offline for over a week?
Are you from Antarctica?
Hi there.
When I open your app from Vancouver, BC, Canada, the location of your map has the location coming from Antarctica. Not the real locations from Toronto and the airport. Needs fixing. I do want to visit Toronto again either for a blue jays game or just for a visit. Ty.

Can you please design and app that doesn’t sign you out every time you go to use it, if you’re more than 5 days without using, it signs you out every time.. extremely annoying
