Good for sound engineers!
I like this app, coming from a sound engineer into lampie world.
It’s all laid out well and works as I would hope.
I checked out Luminair but to me that didn’t feel as intuitive or powerful despite it being the most popular.
Lack of support
I love the idea of this App and the free version looked and worked great. However since I upgraded to the 256 version there seems to be a bug in the Items and Effects menu on my iPad2. (One of those thing but .....)
I have been trying to get help and join their 'closed' FACEBOOK group for 2 weeks and I have yet to have a reply to my numerous emails. It may be accidental or deliberate but the lack of response and inability to discuss ideas and techniques with other users is very poor customer service. The manual could do with a lot of work to explain how to get the most out of the App. It is very hard to understand the logic. However when it works it is fantastic, I just wish they would let me join the Vibrio community to communicate with other users and solve what could possibly be a very simple issue.
Excellent but room for development.
Firstly this beat Luminair for me by far, which has done my head in. It’s a much better workflow and adding custom fixtures is easy and adding many off them is how it should be. Luminair has better animation options and audio syncing but it’s such a nightmare to setup rigs as you have to add fixtures one at a time and every slider is on a single view for every channel, no hierarchy for efficient use. The logic to Luminair is crazy. Vibrio however is clean, efficient and works well. I wish it had better animation options (effects). You can only seem to set a bpm in the effects editor which is useless as it needs to be altered live. But some of the finer details are well thought out and all in a logical and obvious place. It did crash once or too but not during a live show yet. I think with a bit of develop this could be the market leader. Saved the day for a few shows that I gave up with luminaire. It also beats photon and light rider for me as there aren’t any gimmicks here.
Would be top marks if there were more effect controls and if bmp was on a live performance level (with scene transition time maybe).
Great app with a bright future
I've been lighting shows for over 16 years now and have used a lot of consoles. Along came the iPad and a whole new way to take control with ArtNet.
I've tried a number of apps for the purpose of lighting control and they've always come up short. Far too many are clever but don't give you the flexibility needed for live control and most importantly scene and sequence layering.
Vibrio is great! It has a fantastic simple UI and a powerful feature set that really does allow you to run a show live and create states on the go with a mixture of your saved scenes and sequences.
Fixture control is really easy and handy as doing your finelight with the addresses shown on screen so you can easily reference what should be on what address!
Creating scenes is really simple and the ability to apply settings to all fixtures, groups or individuals is brilliantly easy.
This is the best lighting control app I have found and am continuing to use. I really hope it continues to be developed as there are so many other great opportunities within it that could be offered.
A great start and highlight recommended from someone using it on moving and static rigs.
Great app
Great interface and it allows editing of scenes while shows are running unlike competitors. Needs more support for moving heads, and needs more updates. Updates are VERY infrequent. I’ve emailed the team about some bugs I’ve found, with no responses. Keep up the good work guys but please provide some updates. Please provide better release notes so we know what OS version is safe to use with Vibrio.
Worked ok until I bought it
Now my fixtures don’t show up in scenes under edit
Can’t add fixtures
I can’t add fixtures ipadios 16 nothing shows up .
Lied about chanels
Before I purchased this, I saw that it said free 512 chanels. So I thought, ok not bad, looks decent, and I downloaded it and it’s limiting me to 9 channels. Toast production did so bad on this software so don’t get it.
Needs more functionality
This app would be a lot better if you could change the name of the fintures so you can reference what they are in your show
Great app!
This controller app is super easy to use, and has great features, especially for the price. It’s nice to be able to layer scenes. One thing I want updated is the fixture profile. The fixture profiles are very limited and only includes older discontinued fixtures. I have to make my own profile for just about every single light I own. Also, the effects for movements could be improved. All in all, I think this is one of the best DMX controller apps you can get for the features you get for the price.
