Welcome to our Māori cultural app, Public Trust Kete.
As the name suggests, this app is a resource to support you in your journey to learn some important aspects of Māori culture as they relate to us at Te Tari Tiaki Iwi | Public Trust.
We are Te Tari Tiaki Iwi, the organisation that takes care of people, and we have a proud 149 year long history of helping Kiwi to protect what is most important to them.
Our work is guided by our purpose of empowering all New Zealanders to build and protect their legacies, and our values, to make the tricky seem simple, put people at the heart, be better together and have the courage to make a difference. It is our hope that by empowering our people with a tool to learn some te reo Māori (the Māori language) and Māori tikanga (customary practices or behaviours) we’ll be better able to courageously put our customers at the heart in a culturally responsive way, enabling them to build and protect their whakareretanga (legacy), while creating a more equitable and inclusive organisation.
We encourage you to take the time to be curious and of course to practice both on your own and with your team.
