A real breakthrough
Previously, the only way I’d found to sonify images involved laboriously loading them into an obscure part of Logic. It was a drawn-out and clunky process and once you generated a sound, you couldn’t do much with it. So I’ve waited a long time for something like VOSIS and it’s all I hoped for. Real time sonic manipulation of images that can produce surprising, fascinating results (though as someone else said, the tonal range could be wider). Still, sounds can always be tweaked further, and extracting and manipulating the first sounds from images and even video can be done really swiftly. There are a couple of glitches and it could perhaps be a bit more intuitive, but overall it’s great and I’m sure it will keep evolving. I’ve already used it successfully for a live show and look forward to seeing what new sounds and inspiration it can give me in the pro version.
