Waffle: Shared Journal

I thought the app was free (based on write ups and app itself). We are going on a huge vacation with my family for almost a month and decided to upgrade to a plus for the year (for this ONE journal), to ensure I am including my husband and 2 sons. But now that we have used it for 24 hours, 4 entry’s and a handful of photos it will not allow me to add any additional photos unless I upgrade AGAIN! And the worst part is I cannot find a contact to ask how it get around this. I am I in another country and don’t have access to a computer. It is really very disappointing since I had planned to share our trip details with each other and cannot even get out of the airport without Waffle asking /demanding an upgrade from us! Sad

You should make this app for Windows and Echo Show

I used it with a friend for months and I guess it's finally kicked the bucket, app keeps crashing everytime I go to open it no matter how many times I try It's been happening for a few weeks~ and I was hoping it would resolve itself..... it hasn't. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app, and that didn't fix it either. I also tried powering my phone on and off. Friend still has access but I don't, going to evacuate all of our works so we don't lose them for good before deleting the app for good from our phones. I also noticed the app partnered with BetterHelp which is a major ethical concern for me

Just getting past the sign in process and the insistence of “share with a friend” is obnoxious and poorly done. This app is about 102% higher in cost. For example with Journals like Day One which I also won’t use, no iCloud sync. Apples new Journal app is free for goodness sake. Not overjoyed with it but better than $80 a year. When will developers learn. Many of us simply will not buy into the nonsense of these high subscriptions and login hoops. Personally this app was NOT WORTH IT.

I love this journal!! It’s like all the best parts of twitter/social media + a groupchat. I love that there are no direct laugh replies bc I think it makes people feel less pressured to post something that gets lots of positive reactions. I would say tho: 1) I think it comes off really bad for them to remove the ability to 1) firstly remove the ability to add videos then 2) remove the FREENESS of the feature to add multiple photos. It is a JOURNAL, that is marketed as helpful for mental health and relationship building. Seems sort of money hungry to put the photos behind a paywall. When it was simply like pay = unlimited and 5-6 = free, I was like okay fine. But to only have one seems like the company cares less about user experience and more about making money. I also feel like paying 6.99 a month to add multiple pictures is way too much. Perhaps changing their model to being like a nonprofit where yall get money through mental health advocacy grants or something,, because asking users to pay so much for having more than photo (especially wen we originally did not) seems greedy/not fair. 2) it’d be cooler if we could actually customize the journal covers!!!! The generic journal cover lacks intimacy. I would also say that there should be an option to remove people from the journal.

While the app has the potential to great, it’s substantially overpriced for the features available in other journals. The time wasting element of trying to figure out where a response occurred is so ridiculous in this tech era. It feels like the pretext of simplicity is deliberate, it avoids a standard experience in other journals making this app frustrating over time. You waste time seeking out the responses when any new input should be highlighted and accessible. The absence of the ability to add audio clips is so ridiculous. I can’t see this app can sustain user attention over time when it does the one thing we are trying to avoid, waste time and limits the full dimension of shared experiences in the absence of audio. The current pricing does not reflect good value compared to the competition, it takes a while of shared use to discover glaring design flaws that should not exist. I’m hoping future updates will address these concerns.

been using this for years, and it’s just getting better and better. i’ll recommend my friends this app. however, i do have some concerns. the available book cover is too few, and they don’t look that good. it would be much better if we could upload our own book cover. i wish this is available for windows, mac, or any desktops.

We keep getting similar daily questions ever since the app started using an AI. It will just reword the same questions. Over and over again. It makes it boring when we already answered the question and it keeps asking it again. Please fix this!! I enjoyed using the app and too many days I have to put “already did this” on the questions. The types of questions from back before the AI were great and exactly what we wanted! Nothing has changed in months. We would just like some simple questions that get us thinking about things we haven’t thought about before.

I love this app. The fact that I can share with a person, post an image, have multiple entries in a day all for FREE is fantastic. I recently experienced a software glitch and when I reached out to the Waffle team with a screenshot, they were very prompt and professional when finding the solution. Four suggestions I have for Waffle UX are • Allow vocal notes to be attached to an entry. • Create a calendar view of entries for faster scrolling / searching. • Allow a search feature of entries by keyword. • Language localization to expand Waffle's user base :)
