Waterspeed Sailing, Wing, Wind

After making winter alterations to my small sailboat I was able to compare last years performance to this years in similar conditions. This app records track, wind and boat speed and stores it all on my phone where it can be quickly accessed. Kudos to the developers for this bit of genious.

A must have if you want to track your time in the water for training or racing.

I’ve tried different apps to gather data with my Apple Watch.. so far, I think Waterspeed app is best. I kitefoil and wingfoil mostly. There is a free version, but I use the pro membership because I think it’s worth the $.

Love Waterspeed! It’s so useful for tracking my sessions and progress. It helps you dial in equipment for different conditions and gives you real world info on your runs. It allows you to track km splits and the developer is super responsive and is adding new features specially tuned to downwind sup foiling. Can’t want to try the new tracking feature to share with friends and coast guard/harbor patrol for safety when out to sea. Before every session I fire up Waterspeed and Spotify and then I’m ready to send. Then I have cool info after my session to share with my friends, map export of the session is great.

As a competitive club sailor, enjoy the app when the boat’s knot meter goes on the Fritz. Two suggestions, create optional settings for: 1. Moving average (course and speed) settings for 10s, 20s intervals. (What is the default setting?) 2. Create a hack setting for the Apple Watch SE to keep the watch face awake until turned off or until battery < 30%.

I compete professionally in WingFoil Racing and SUP and the data I get from the Waterspeed app helps immensely. I love how I can breakdown my sessions to look at minute details to see where both heart rate and speed peaked, for example. The app is easy to use and I use it with my Apple Watch and every session syncs quickly to my iPhone. I highly recommend Waterspeed for all water sport enthusiasts out there!

I’ve been using this app for 4 years, or 5 and love to see exactly where I’ve paddled to, my speed and much more. Love the addition of stroke tracking. I’m on a Surfski. Absolutely love this app.

Takes many hours to upload a single activity from my Apple Watch titanium to my phone. Why?! Lost one of my activities as well. What is the gps hz recording rate? Too many clicks required to stop an activity. I do ocean sports so naturally my hands and watch are wet when I get out of the water to stop something I give it a good blow and I can click once or twice, don’t make me do more than that. I use this with a garmin on my other wrist for more reliability with buttons, but the post-activity stats are the best with this.
