Always get news and up to the minute

At times in late evenings, I try to access WDEL on iPad to avoid radio static. There are some nights I can’t get link to open. Is it blocked for some reason?

News is not timely or updated frequently enough.

Since Rush Limbaugh died, Rick Jensen is my go to guy on the radio. He’s funny, knowledgeable, fair, and he listens to different points of view. I think he could go national!

iPhone 6, iOS 12.4.7. WDELNews Version 4.35.210051266 Today the app crashes when a video is toggled to play. I generally use this app to listen to live broadcasts when out and about. Does a good job for this purpose. The news aspect however is lacking in substance. What it does well is publish soundbite versions of breaking news. If you are looking for more than that, look elsewhere.

What good is an app for a live streaming service such as radio when live streaming doesn’t work? I don’t want it to read about it later after the webpage is updated. I can do that later by going to the webpage. Yesterday I received a tornado warning and wanted to check if there was anything more specific on the radio. That was an exercise in futility. I opened the app, clicked on listen live, then clicked the play button. That brought up a music note icon which I clicked on. The only thing that did was to bring on a buffering spinner. I have full lte data and I was on wifi at home. I tried both 2.4 and 5ghz WiFi as well as my unthrottled and available cellular data. Nothing. I’ve deleted and reinstalled the app. I even tried a day later when there is no emergency alert. Same result. I can open apps to stream local tv or other video and those play immediately. So, what good is an app for radio when it can’t play radio?

An awesome way of getting the news I’ve been listening and following Wdel since my brother and I sat around the radio in the early 1970s Christmas Eve waiting for Santa to leave the north pole on Live radio I cherish the moments of excitement and looking forward to Santas arrival on Christmas Day
