Clunky interface, pretty useless
It seems really promising for looking up unknown Kanji quickly, but turns out to be virtually useless. While the handwriting recognition pad is pretty impressive, it's often not much better than the iPhone's built-in Chinese Input Method or simply not good enough. The main limitation is that it only displays a handful of characters to choose from, and often the one you're looking for is not in it, although you get the feeling it may have shown up if there was more space. The other big part, the freely combinable radical/stroke/grade/meaning/pixie-dust lookup screen is just way too exotic to be useful. It's hard to predict what kind of effect a tap anywhere on the screen will have, and it's almost inscrutable which filters are active and how they affect the search results. Once you managed to find a Kanji, there's little you can do with it. The information displayed about it and possible translations are minimal and often even cut off. The overall navigation within the app is mystery meat. It's also very slow in some parts. Just get "Japanese" by codefromtokyo, it has far superior lookup capabilities and is a brilliant dictionary on top.
