Master Yang teaches you the meaning of every tai chi movement in a one-on-one private tai chi class. Tai Chi Chuan is a kind of moving meditation with ancient roots in Chinese martial arts.
Dr. Yang, Jwing-Ming is a world acclaimed master of Tai Chi and Qigong, and he personally guides you through a series of easy-to-follow Tai Chi movements. Dr. Yang's tai chi lineage can be traced back to the Yang family through Grandmaster Kao, Tao (高濤) and his teacher Yue, Huanzhi (樂奐之), an indoor disciple of Yang, Chengfu (楊澄甫).
This free app gives you free videos, and offers an opportunity to get the full Part 1 video at the lowest possible cost. Now you can practice Master Yang's popular Tai Chi exercises using your phone or tablet. This is a convenient training tool you can bring anywhere, to access this amazingly powerful exercise whenever it fits best into your day.

After learning from your free videos, you may access the full-length program with a single in-app purchase. In the videos, Master Yang will teach you Part One of the Yang Style Tai Chi form. Students will often spend years repeating this section, before moving on to Parts 2 and 3.
Whether you are a beginner or a Tai Chi master already, these amazing exercises offer the perfect combination of relaxation and full-body exercise. You'll enjoy reduced stress, a stronger immune system, and a deeper awareness of breath and body coordination.
Tai Chi, or Taiji, is short for Tai Chi Chuan, or Taijiquan, which translates from Chinese to “Grand Ultimate fist”. Tai Chi is an internal-style Chinese martial art that can be traced back to the Chen family, the Daoists at Wudang mountain, and ultimately to Shaolin Temple.
"The Harvard Medical School Guide to Tai Chi" says: "regular practice leads to more vigor and flexibility, better balance and mobility, and a sense of well-being…Tai Chi also has a beneficial impact on the health of the heart, bones, nerves and muscles, immune system, and the mind."
When practiced slowly for health purposes, Tai Chi is a type of Qigong. Qi-Gong means "energy-work". Qigong (chi kung) is the ancient art of building the body's Qi (energy) to a higher level and circulating it throughout the body for rejuvenation and health. Some Qigong is practiced sitting or standing still, while other Qigong can be a kind of moving meditation. This gentle Qigong exercise is a highly effective way to reduce stress, increase energy, enhance healing, and generally improve your quality of life.
Qigong increases the quantity of energy in the body and improves the quality of your circulation through energy pathways, known as meridians. Qigong is sometimes called "acupuncture without needles."
Similar to yoga, Qigong can stimulate the entire body deeply with low-impact movement and develop a stronger mind/body connection. The slow, relaxed movements are widely recognized for their health benefits, strengthening the internal organs, muscles, joints, spine, and bones, and developing abundant energy.
Qigong can be effective in helping people with insomnia, stress-related disorders, depression, back pain, arthritis, high blood pressure, cardiovascular system, respiratory system, bioelectric circulatory system, lymphatic system, and digestive system.

Love this app, super simple. Videos are easy to follow and scroll. Movements are explained very well.

Could have been a great app

The instructor is clearly a master. Very impressionable and highly skilled. My issue is not the quality but that it doesn’t clarify that each episode costs $10. I paid thinking it was going to open all the locked sessions. No. Even a 7 minute talk costs $10. Too excessive. Who would pay that for each and every session not knowing what’s on it. Not right. Very disappointing. You should be more upfront.

Easy way to learn

I already have doctor yang’s tai chi dvd, but having the app means I can take it wherever I go! I can practice while I wait for the bus!

So convenient!

It’s like having Dr. Yang in your pocket. I love the convenience of this app. It allows me to take a lesson anywhere, waiting a the bus stop, on a coffee break, or just hanging out killing time.

Best Yang-style video app

Dr. Yang teaches the “old Yang” 108 form with its original martial applications, sometimes known as a Yang, Ban-Hou form. Great value for these lessons, much less than the $50 Dvd cost! Beautiful footage and step by step instruction, like a private lesson on my iPad. Parts 2&3 of the form are also available with hours more video lessons in a separate app. But Part 1 is enough to study for many months.

Simply Amazing UPDATE

The latest update to this App keeps it fast and compatible. Right from the introduction, you know you are about to have a high quality Tai Chi learning experience. Simply the best Tai Chi learning App. Thank you Dr. Yang! It’s absolutely fabulous that YMAA is making this (their most popular instructional video) program an APP. If you need a video to learn, correct, or go deeper in your Tai Chi practice, this video APP is your best choice. The quality of the footage is top rate, the audio is very good, and there are even English subtitles if you need them. If you practice or are just interested in Tai Chi, try the free parts of this video APP. You will be amazed.

Can’t get past the email address request.

Every time I enter my email, it says it can’t be processed. Very frustrating. Can anyone help?

I purchased the extra content for $9.99 and when I transferred phones it’s telling me I have to re buy them. It’s on the same Apple ID

Great value for the price

I learned the complete form in the past but then I let my study lapse and forgot everything. Too many places focuses on the relaxing elements but without seeing the martial applications you lose a lot of the subtlety of the movements. I believe they show you the full form but without much explanation. For a better example of what you are getting you should look at the free elements in the second series. But understand that the paid portions go deeper into how to visualize and apply the movements. I’m looking forward to spending a lot of time with this.

A Real Master

It is well worth the price of this app to have high quality instruction from a real master of tai chi on my iPad so I can take it with me. I like the presentation and also appreciate the captions at the bottom of the screen so I can follow along better. I really like Dr. Yang’s style and easy-going but effective manner of presenting the material carefully and accurately. Thank you.
