Yorktown Tour Guide

Th CD your you can purchase in the gift store is far better than this app. It would be wonderful if the CD version were made into or added o this app - the tour doesn't guide you through the park, has little info and is frankly - boring.

Overall, went into it skeptical due to the reviews that I read. The app worked very well and although it doesn’t directly prompt you to get out of your vehicle, it does state you are standing in the area, almost inferring to get out and look around. Use this app and the map guide and follow the street signs that are clearly marked, and you will be well educated on your tour!

This app is a quick download and a very useful guide to have with you on the battlefield.

After taking a GPS audio tour at Gettysburg, I was excited to try this app at Yorktown. However, it did not live up to my expectations. First, the app does not direct you to each stop and the map is very slow to update. The flags are not numbered on the app, so it’s difficult to navigate without a physical map. Second, the narration at each stop is extremely short and overall provides very little context to the siege. Outside research is recommended. Finally, the narration in general leaves much to be desired. The narrator fumbles over his words and it seems like no editing was done to redo or cover up the mistakes. There is very little inflection in his voice and sometimes he is hard to understand. He never prompts you to get out of your car and walk around, but I highly recommend it. You will miss almost everything in the first loop if you don’t get out and walk around. I still enjoyed the tour, but mostly because of the signs posted along the way providing important information.

It’s basically just reading out the signs here. Would appreciate if the speaker wouldn’t mumble that much and swallow words.

It was a great companion to the battlefield driving tour and I enjoyed the audio sections very much. Would highly recommend.

This is a great adaptation of more typical park interpretation for the COVID era. The app seems to run pretty well, and it’s easy to access voice narration for the tours. A lengthy download is needed the first time you open the app, however.
