I love the simplicity of it. It’s been helping me eat more regularly, consistently, and balanced through a difficult schedule and lots of anxiety. If it were a one time purchase I’d have bought it very quickly. I don’t like subscription models. So I haven’t. But then I found that you can’t even view your historical entries without a subscription. So that made it in that you pretty much have go buy the paid version. Which IMO is kind of a sleazy way to sell it to you. Sigh. I’m probably going to do it because it’s the best I’ve found for simplicity but yeah would expect more from a paid version.
The only actual change I would make is the ability to track numbers of the food groups. Eg, checking “carb” is helpful from the sense of evaluating, but as I get going I’m going to need to think okay, this was 2 servings of carbs and I’ve only had one serving of protein. I think you could get around that by entering every unit in separately…I will try. For example, if I put in spaghetti and check carb, that doesn’t give me an idea of how much carb.
Simple Tracking App
I love the simplicity of the app. There is nothing overwhelming that would cause you to spend more time than needed in the App. This is important because if you’ve struggled with your relationship with food, there are not too many things that could steer you to a dark place. Simply take a picture and assess the food groups you’ve eaten. While I wish there was one for dessert, I use the “other” category in its place. Premium is affordable and I hope with updates it doesn’t become overwhelming like some of the others. The journal is very basic to write your thoughts for the day.
Requires login account & your data is stored in cloud
Note: this is NOT an app functionality review Rather, it’s only about critical data handling / privacy. (I had to choose a star rating but that’s irrelevant so I chose a middle 3 stars.)
Read the privacy policy and it says all user data is stored in a cloud database. You can’t use this app with data stored locally only.
Policy says this is for web and app utility. Seems if you don’t want web data access, you can’t choose for local phone app only data handling.
In line with that requirement, a login account with name and email is required.
So, if you want a simple food logging app where your data stays local and login credentials aren’t required, this is not the one.
Only one complaint
I love this app the only thing I wish you guys could change is to make it so we can add the ingredients to the things we list, for example where it says fruits, dairy, etc I wish it would also have the option for other notes on the food, that’s it thank you for taking the time to read this
Good but…
Love how simple this app is but I wish there were more options for types of food, for example, “dessert” or “grains”. When I have cacao powder I feel weird classifying that as a carb but don’t know how else to categorize it. It would also be nice to track if I took my vitamins for the day. There should be a “title” for the meal I ate and then a description below so that I can describe the ingredients. That would be really helpful!
Wish i could export data
Love the app UX/UI but I really want to be able to share this data with my nutritionist and I really can’t and don’t know how to export the data or even see what I ate in a week if there is an option to do this I would love to know but that’s the only thinking making me search for another app
Solid Start
Enjoy the simplicity and method of adding meals. Especially like the idea of focusing on eating food group. Would love to see more insight — specifically how much of each good group I’ve had in the past 7 and 30 days. (Can only see the most and least consumed currently.)
Suggestions
I had a problem with the signup page. It was buggy, but after a while I came back and it fixed itself? Not sure what happened, but I got to use the app now.
I have a few suggestions already:
- Add fiber to the food groups.
- Add dessert to the meal types.
- Add a quantification feature for each food group when you log a meal. So that you can visualize if your meal is mostly carbs, or protein, or veggies, etc. Maybe a slide-able pie chart using the selected food groups. Doesn’t have to be exact, just a visualization.
- Customize daily water intake goal. (Change the default 64oz.)
- Set drink water reminder notifications aside from meal notifications.
- Customize the times of the meal reminders.
-Consider offering a lifetime deal.
This app has great potential! Please keep working on it! So many people are in need of a quick and easy way to log their food without it being mentally draining or harmful. I can see this being a safe place to keep track of things. In a way, having limited features is kinda freeing. Saves you from fiddling too much with it because you can’t. I ramble, lol. Looking forward to future updates!
Love the Food Group Feature!
I just downloaded this and love the format so far! Just one thing that I wish it had is I wish you could mark if something has multiple servings of a food group. For example, my morning smoothie has both milk and yogurt, so it would me nice to mark that I’ve had 2 servings of dairy.
Overall though, love the app!!!
Simple & Easy to Use!
My review after using it for one week. I like the water tracker in oz. I love the journal option and questions. I wouldn't mind a chance to customize the times of the notifications, so the app reminds me to add any info to the journal. Overall, I like the app. It's a simple app to help me with my weight loss journey. And will help me focus on balance, making balanced choices, and not focusing on calories.
