These locations are situated by the riverside, along the road and on the (former) outskirts of town. Each location has shaped the history of Innsbruck’s oldest district in its own unique way.
Anpruggen means "at the bridge" and is the old historical name of the Mariahilf-St. Nikolaus district. Back when the settlement was founded, there were only simple huts and small buildings. For a long time, the Anpruggen district served as the city’s workshop. It was the district where criminals, the poor and sick, and later the "foreigners" made their home.
